In the above tale Shri Krishna himself said

'Without cause do you slander Draupadi, for Draupadi is not evil-minded. I will tell you the reason for this. I know everything about everyone. Without cause do you slander Draupadi, Partha. Among women, there is no one like her. Krishna(Draupadi) spoke what she did feared. The cause of this is secret and it is not proper to reveal all now. After the king has returned to his kingdom and has sat on his throne, then will I specially reveal all to everyone. None can say that on this earth there is a woman, a sati, as dedicated to her husband, as Krishna(Draupadi).'

Clearly she had no feelings for Karna.Anyone know what the secret was!?!?

I think this story was written to suggest that Draupadi had an instinct that Karna was in fact Kunti's son, even though all the public records suggested otherwise. But otherwise, Janaki is right - b4 the swayamvara, she prevented him from participating; b4 the game of dice, she was never confronted by him, and after the game, she hated him next to only Dushashan.

but before the dice game is it not krishan ji who asked druapadi to refuse karan or did she refuse him out of her own free will?

I have read and seen different versions of this story.As per jaya druapadi refused him out of her own free will krishan ji didnt ask her to do so but the way they showed it in BRC MB she did it becuase krishna ji asked her to do so.

If later is true perhaps she could have had some feelings for karna but refused him becuase krishna ji asked her to do so.Not sure.What is there in the actual epic?

But i agree with the rest after the dice hall game there is no logical reason for her to have any r kind of feelings except for hatred towards karna.Maximum she could have just regretted turning him down the first time but no love that is the main reason why i didnt like drauapdi's potrayal in palace of illusions

Draupadi refused Karna of her own free will - Krishna wasn't involved. BRC made that bit up.

hmm well in that case it is very possible she regretted her decision not marry karan since instead of karan she married 5 brothers who didnt only put her on stake but also remained silent during her humiliation

Also isnt there a scene in the epic wherein krishan ji comes to meet draupadi during exile and tells her that one of the main reaosns for her troubles is that she refused a warrior like karan on the basis of caste?

NO no and no.

The Karna- Draupadi angle, the Karna - Draupadi- Arjuna triangle, the Karna - Draupadi- Arjuna - Krishna quadrilateral are all imaginations of latter day story writers.

Caste was an important issue then and no body had any issues with it

Draupadi being special in Krishna's sense...for what she has faced all her life and her strong mind which made her stand and face the situations.Just imagine how difficult it was for her handling 5 men.Any other person in her place would definitely run without turning back fearing all those hazardous people around.

It was't as easy as blind folding eyes and sitting in the palace comfortably with maids serving all around!

Some stories about Draupadi's past birth explains Shivji's boon was the reason of her 5 husbands. She was incarnation of 5 Devis etc.

Where does this Karna's angle fit in her past lives stories? If no then surely Karna- Draupadi love angle is pure fiction. A creative liberty like our CVs are taking. It is very easy to imagine that for Draupadi for them. May be they thought if she can have 5 then why not 6. I am really thankful to those creative interpreters for not thinking about Duryodhan- Draupadi, Dushashan- Draupadi love angle. It so easy to target a female character.
