Rishbala OS: Life Lessons - Advice from Father to Son

Dear Son,

I don't say it enough, but I am proud of the man you have become. Your mother and I are still trying to accept that the our little boy has grown into a young man on verge of starting a new phase in his life. That being said, Madhu and I are both delighted that you found a great young woman as your partner for life. If I may add, she's feisty and very much reminds me of your mother when we first met. You chose well son. If she is anything like your mother, my Madhu, you just earned yourself a lifetime of happiness. Now that you are getting married, I have a few words of advice for you. Take it from a man who has been married for years and I hope you will learn from my mistakes.
Once you get married, your wife must become your first priority. Treat her like a Queen. She deserves your love, support and respect. As the future mother of any children that you two may have, she will be backbone of your family. She will do everything within her power to ensure your happiness. Your mother has always put me, you and and your sisters before her and I haven't always shown my appreciation for the many sacrifices that she has made. Don't make the mistakes as I did son, don't ever doubt your wife's love and support. Also as the father of two daughters, your future wife-to-be's father will be entrusting you with her happiness, don't disappoint him. She is going to give up her name, her home and her identity to be with you. Understand it, respect it and don't ever do anything to make her regret marrying you.
Remember that marriage is a compromise. It is a two way street, both must give and take. I made the mistake of always taking and demanding from Madhu at the beginning of our marriage. It is a testament that your mother is a far far FAR better human than I ever will be. She forgave all of my colossal mistakes and always fought for our marriage. Don't put such a heavy burden on your wife, help her shoulder it because it's your marriage too.
Life won't always be easy. You will face hurdles and it will test your marriage. There will be times that you will fight fiercely with your spouse on diagonally opposing views on issues that are of equal importance to you both. Don't let it affect your marriage and create a chasm. You can have opposing views but always remember the love you have for each other. It will always see you through the hard times.
You are on the verge of entering one of the most rewarding phase of your life. Getting married and then starting a family is a beautiful and amazing experience that will last a lifetime. I can't wait to see you my son live the life your mother and I have always envisioned for you, to spend it with a partner who will be with you through thick and thin.
Also always keep in mind that your fianc won't just become your wife but she will also become my bahu. More than my bahu, she will become my daughter. So treat her well Arjun Rishabh Kundra or you will have to face your father's wrath!

Love you my son,

Proud Father - Rishabh Kundra
