Chapter 1
(Madhu's POV)
A little girl and a little boy were playing in the garden. They were the best of friends.
"Armaan!" She screamed playfully. "You can't catch me!" She laughed.
"Just watch me Madhu. No one can defeat me in tag."
He ran after her around the garden, eventually catching her by secret.
"No Armaan, that's cheating!" She struggled from his grasp. "You hid and trapped me...not fair!"
"I'm sorry. Fine, you chase me now." He got up and ran. She ran after him. They played until night came and put them to sleep.
(Years Later...)
"Armaan, do you have to go to Mumbai?"
"Yes, Madhu. I have to earn for my family...this is the only way." He sighed.
"Will you come back for me?" Tears fell from her eyes.
"Of course. I promise you. Once I get settled down, I will come and take you as my bride."
She hugged him tightly, his shirt soaked with her tears...
(Mumbai...some more years later)
"Madhu, I can't marry you!" He yelled across the room.
She stood at the opposite side, shocked.
"But why? After all we've been through...our engagement news has already been given to the media!"
"So what...I'll be humiliated because of this marriage. A celebrity and a middle class girl?! I'll lose all the fame I have earned in these couple years." He turned his back to her.
She stared at him, her gaze full of newly born hate.
"Is this what I was waiting for all these years?! YOUR REJECTION?!" She yelled back.
He didn't answer.
"Just go Madhu...I...I...love someone else.."
"Who?!"
"She's a well known supermodel. I plan on marrying her in the future, once our engagement news dies down."
Tears began to fill her eyes again. The guy who she considered her entire world doesn't care for her anymore. Malice for him clouded her judgement.
"I HATE YOU ARMAAN!! Did you hear me!! I HATE YOU!!"
And she left the room...
(Present Day)
The alarm screamed in my ears.
"Madhu get up, you'll get late for office!"
"Unggghh, no Trishna, I don't want to go..."
"Wake up lazy head!" She smacked my head.
"Malik, tell Trishna to go away." I said, half asleep.
"Madhu beta, please get up. You're my responsible daughter right." Malik shook my shoulder.
I dragged myself out of bed. Office, office, work, work. As if I had nothing else to do.
(A couple hours later...)
"Malik, I'm leaving! Wish me luck on my first day!"
"My blessings are always with you Madhu."
He waved from the kitchen.
I looked towards the sky once outside.
"Mummy, please help me today. I have to make a good impression on my boss."
A taxi came in my direction. Perfect timing.
"TAXI!" I yelled. It halted in front of me. The driver stared at my awkwardly, like he's seen me before.
"Why are you staring at me?"
"Aren't you that actor's girlfriend...what's his name..." He thought for a minute.
"Oh...Armaan Sinha, right?"
My blood boiled. My past will never leave me alone.
"NO HE ISN'T MY BOYFRIEND! A man like him doesn't deserve to be loved by anyone. Don't you ever take his name in front of me again!"
"I'm sorry ma'am.." He paused. "Where do you need to go?"
"Metha & Sons office"
"Okay...get in"
I stuck my head out the window, watching the buildings pass by. I love Mumbai. The people, the food, the morning rush hours, the beaches...
"Ma'am...MA'AM!" The driver destroyed my day-dream.
"What?!"
"Traffic...I can't take you farther."
"What do you mean you can't take me? This is your job."
"There is some movie premiere going on. Everyone is stopping to see it. Let me check." He got out of the car.
"What is this mummy? Late on first day!?Don't these film stars have anything better to do, ruining other peoples' day." I slumped down in the seat.
The driver came back shortly.
"Ma'am, superstar RK is here. Everyone is going to see him." Great, more film industry crap...
"You know what? I DON'T CARE! Here's your money. I'll walk to office then." I stormed out of the taxi.
Superstar RK is the last person I wanted to here about. The film stars are all the same...unfaithful and arrogant. I made the attempt and finally passed bunches of screaming fans, running and waving pens and autograph books at him. I ignored them and walked on.
(At the movie premiere)
"RK, RK, RK!" The fans cheered his name over and over again. He walked out of the building with his famous smirk on his face. He waved, and the crowd roared with excitement. He then took out his handkerchief, signed it, and threw it into the crowd. Everyone grabbed at it, but the wind carried it away...
(Madhu's POV)
"Al..most..there.." I was panting hard. Only a couple blocks away from the office. I stopped to catch my breath. A car came whooshing by, throwing mud everywhere. And well enough, the wave of mud hit me.
"Arghhh...now what will I do?" There was mud all over my face and parts of my dress.
Out of nowhere, a white embroidered handkerchief flew into me. GREAT! Just what I needed!
"Thank you, mummy." I smiled at the sky.
I wiped my face and dress as best as I could and threw the handkerchief into my purse...for future episodes like this.
