Whenever somebody stands up against the wrong, stands up to protect a woman and beats the bad it always leaves an impact and it's one such scene from Colors popular drama Madhubala: Ek Ishq Ek Junoon that makes it into our list of top 5 scenes week. But...but...but that is not the only reason this scene made it to our list, but there is something more to it that made it truly outstanding.
I am sure by now every MEIEJ fan out there knows which scene we are talking about. Yes, it's the one where Abhay Kapoor gets beaten black and blue by a mentally retarded Raju, in whatever little way he could so as to protect his Gudiya aka Madhu. Abhay had gone to the extent of slapping Madhu and not once but twice because she had shown him the mirror. She had shown the superstar that he was nothing but a Villian. Abhay who harbors hatred for the Kundra's and thus by proxy towards Madhu couldn't stand the truth because somewhere he too knew that in his hatred, in his blind mission to destroy Madhubala Kundra (Jr.) he had become all that Madhu was claiming him to be.
At an ordinary glance Raju was beating Abhay because the latter what hurting his Gudiya. Raju who is mentally retarded does not see that Abhay had slapped his wife, or that had raised his hand against a woman but indirectly the makers showed through the actions of a mentally retarded character that whether in sound mind or not, one should never tolerate such atrocities. Plus Abhay's revengenda has always been baseless; he never knew and still does not know the actual facts behind his Father's death, so when a normal person like Abhay forgets to differentiate right from wrong, the makers chose to show somebody like Raju who has the least ability to differentiate, stand up for Madhu.
After seeing Madhu being put through hell, it was indeed a refreshing change to see the ball in somebody else court. The scene was simple but nicely done and hence in our top 5 list.
