The Jr. Madhu role either dying or slowly being phased out, and Rishbala either revealed as already reborn, or being reborn now, and another fast leap into adulthood.
If VD were to return, it would be worth it only if DVD both playing middle-aged, or both playing young. Either way, paired together and as the main lead couple. Not anything platonic.
They are anyway apparently not planning heroine track now. But maybe they'll do it properly if TRP manages to get to a great-budget-worthy 3+.
And either the lead couple is quickly extremely popular with majority-audience and is focussed on regardless of tracks.
Or couple is not quickly extremely popular with majority-audience, and track ends up instead focussing on the girl's family-drama with the boy's family, with the girl as the perpetually forgiving person trying to keep the family together.
Female lead's career is never focussed on, except as catalyst for her couple-relationship, unless the actress is extremely inexpensive. The amount of viewership anticipatable is not enough to make the track worthwhile except in the most slipshod tightly budgeted and quickly wrapped way, unless the viewership is already huge enough that the career-track would be budgeted nicely alongside. And the career is expected to be either sacrificed completely, or else continuing in extremely deprioritized way with her always choosing her conjugal relationship as more important.
But if the couple is very popular, and the husband is more appreciated professionally than the wife and never overshadowed, then the wife's career success can be preserved through the duration for months and years within a series.
Anyway, all this hinges on VD being willing to return if the role is good enough to be worthwhile - and if the role is not as half of the main lead couple, and as a strong lead character in his own right, then it wouldn't be worthwhile.
Otherwise, they are apparently opting for girl-and-sasuraal story, with maybe a brief detour into filmworld that will make 2013's heroine track look like a magnificent production. They didn't even opt for continuing to keep the superstar at least occasionally on the sets this time, preferring to have him outright retire after a few scenes to establish his being in that profession. So much tighter budget and sensible budgeting on mass-popularity-unanticipatable track seems more prudently likely.
