Chapter 16Rishab was cranky, the day after his chat with Adrian. He'd tossed and turned all night long to sleep, but was unable to get out Adrian's words from his mind.
He was looking through few portfolios, when the phone on his office desk rang. He checked the caller id. Unavailable. "Rishab Kundra."
"Kundra, this is Nick Ludzecky."

"Thanks for agreeing to meet me. Believe me if I could work things without having to meet you, I would have. But I have my reasons to meet you."
"Okay."
"Remember our little fight in the hospital?"
"Yeah sure. Look Nick, if not then, I've started doing what you wanted me to do."
"I know. But I don't want you to do it."
"What?"
"I don't want you to leave her alone."
"She's miserable and its because of you."
"Hold on, you are moving too fast."
"No, you are moving too slow. And just so you know, I'm not being altruistic here. I want her to be happy and you are her ticket to it."
"Let me get this straight. You don't like me but you want me to...what...seduce your EX."
Nick chuckled.
Then he sobered up. "Madhu was never my ex. Neither am I her future nor she my future. We never thought of each other in those terms. And believe me, we had lot of things in our favour to end up like how you think of us. But we never connected like that. Yeah, I did ask her to marry me when she got pregnant almost a decade back but she refused. She still feels guilty for Mary, that I asked her."
"Hold on, hold on. I don't get it. You told she is the mother of your child, remember?"
"Well yeah, technically. I mean, she is the biological mother of Ananya or Ana as we call her. When Madhu wasn't ready to marry me to give Ana a family and decided to give the baby to foster parents. I and Mary decided to marry and adopt Ana. We thought probably after her delivery, she'd change her mind. But it never happened. I mean it's not that we don't love Ana. We love her like our own. I can never imagine my life without her now. She's a lovely baby just like Madhu.
"Then why dint she marry the real father of her baby? I mean if she had the baby, she must have loved him right?"
"I'm not the person to answer those questions to you. What I had to tell you, I'm done telling. It's up to you to believe me or not."
"And what if I say, my relationship with Madhu hasn't gone that far."
"Yeah, then why do you look like, you just got back from a funeral and why is she crying over you as we speak now."
"Crying? Madhu's crying?"
"Dont tell her that I told you or for that matter I even met you."
"What if I say none of this relevant to me?"
"I don't know about you, but i can vouch my life for Madhu, that she never slept with anybody randomly. Which means you meant something to her."
"God, did she discuss that she made love with me."
"Well not actually in words, but I know her long enough to understand that."
"I knew something was happening between you guys, the first time I met you in her conservatory. Ofcourse she denied it but when I saw her that day at your house, I saw the Madhu, I met almost a decade back like before her graduation party. I decided then, that if it's anybody who could change Madhu, then that is you. I tried explaining it to her, but she's adamant not to see that all, because of you."
"Excuse me."
"Yes because of you. Because you blew the handle by asking her to choose between you and me."
"But I thought you were her ex."
"Exactly. But since you now know how things are between Madhu and me, you know better than that."
"And you think after that fiasco, she'd give me another chance."
"No. She won't. Infact she told this morning that you are history. "
"But since I know her better, I'll give a tip; Infact I'll give you two tips, first give her, her space and second don't leave her for even a second till she takes you back.
