Lost in the Lights

Sitara Studio was buzz of activity, from the press to the movie unit, yet here she was hiding in RK's dressing room. She hated this world of flash bulbs, living your life in print and her husband thrived on it. Madhu knew she would have to go out there eventually before the mahurat puja and the press conference started. She needed a few minutes to compose herself; make herself Mrs. Rishabh Kundra and not RK's Madhu. When she heard the door knob turn, she knew her time was up. She looked up to see RK walking towards but his tense stance told her something wasn't right.

Before Madhu could voice her question, RK answered, "Biwi, the heroine, Simmy isn't coming. She had an allergic reaction to something; she won't be able to make the press conference. If I don't present her to the world today, the bank won't finance the film."

They have never had it easy; if they weren't fighting each other they were fighting against the world. They just wanted a moment's peace to enjoy life but as all of their challenges this too will bring them closer.

"Now what will we do?" hopelessness evident in Madhu's voice.

RK repeatedly ran his hands through his hair in frustration, no solution was identifiable.

Madhu observed RK's frustration and she could easily spot defeat in the slump of his shoulders. There was still one solution left then Mehul Chopra's words rang in Madhu's ear.

"He would love for you to act as a heroine in his film, but that love of his is weaker against his love for you so he will never say anything to you again."

She could sacrifice her life for him, so why was facing her biggest fear scaring her more than death itself?

"I will do it," Madhu's voice barely carried to RK.

He turned instantly, stunned at her statement, ready to launch into the why she didn't have to do it, he would figure something out.

In a moments' notice, Madhu closed the distance between her and RK, clasped his hands in hers.

"Are you with me?"

RK attempted to ask her what kind of an absurd question was that but before he could Madhu asked again, "Are you with me?"

He squeezed her hands in reply to the question.

Madhu's fears and insecurities were clearly visible on her face.

"What if she can't do this? What if she fails? What if she fails RK?"

Her conversation from earlier with RK replayed in her mind, was she really a bad luck for RK? Nothing good had happened in his life since she came into it; he was shot, his father's image was tarnished, he was attacked Sultan. Had she bought this hell into his life?

The what- ifs and images of the past swirled in her mind, she held on to RK for support. Madhu looked at RK's face once and he hers; he was ready to say no again.

"Ma will support me but what about Pabho, RK? She is so against a Kundra bahu acting in films, let alone joining the industry," Madhu voiced her fears.

RK held her a little tighter, "Don't worry about Pabho as long as you are sure I'm not worried about anyone or anything else."

Madhu pulled out of the hug, put her right hand out, "Promise me I won't lose you in this. Promise me we won't lose each other. Promise me RK, that you won't lose me in those lights."

RK took her hand, kissed her palm then put it between two of his, "Promise. Pakkawala Promise."

Promises made, resolve reinforced and feeling more confident in themselves, RK and Madhu walked out to face the media arm in arm.

They didn't know what would happen with the film, with Madhu's venture in the industry, with a million of other problems they will face but they knew that as long as they are together; their love will give them the strength to fight any obstacles in their path.
