Nishi, agree with you on several points but not all.
The couple's romance and Madhu becoming a heroine through RK were always the twofold centrepoints of the series. Neither point was negotiable, though the latter was less worthwhile in TRP-terms.
Majority TRP-audience would - and did - come for the couple's romance, but bringing them in to watch a female lead's glamour career track was the more challenging thing. And it was there that the CVs and channel seem to have taken turns flubbing up.
RK forcing Madhu to be his heroine (instead of first wedding) - with the couple's romance commencing and developing alongside - would have made sense in an AU track if the CVs hadn't gone at a snail pace with setting up the characterization of Madhu's entire family and then Mukund's family as well.
Unfortunately they took too long to set up the scenario, and TRP-audience could be brought back only through the marriage track.
The second opportunity for RK forcing Madhu to be a heroine was after the unwedding when he was totally in denial about his own feelings and not thinking clearly. The CVs may have intended it then, but the channel opted for other considerations, and we endured the brunt for six months.
