SAMAR ki hogi re entry !!
"Hey Rishabh, where are you? I am back at home already," said Dipali over the phone. "I am coming, I'll be there in an hour," replied RK and hung up. Madhu was standing at the balcony, preparing herself for another seemingly never ending night of her life. RK hugged her from behind and said, "I will have to go Madhu." She just nodded her head giving approval, without looking in his eyes, lest he saw the tears forming in the corner. Madhu stood in the balcony for a long time, looking at the crashing waves on the shore.
Madhu's third movie released all over the country, but unfortunately it had a lukewarm response. The first week barely made any collection at the box office. All over the tabloids flashed the same headlines, "Is Madhubala just another one-film wonder? A director's pet who has no talent of her own?" They claimed her second movie's success was solely because of Arjun Kapur. Bittu was going through the accounts files in his office when RK barged in. "RK? What happened? Are you all right?" asked Bittu looking a tensed RK. "Bittu ji, can you get hold of financers who can invest 100 crores in our movie?" asked RK. "100 crores? Why RK? Why would you need so much money for your film?" "I will remake Mughal-E-Azam with Madhubala as the new Anarkali. It is a period film, and I want it to be much grander than the original one, as never before seen in this industry. She will reign the screen with her acting prowess, but to compliment that I want everything else to be an exquisite grandeur," said RK while his eyes spoke of the dream he was desperate to make true. "RK, please have a seat and think logically. You know that Mughal-E-Azam has been a legend in this industry, not only for its splendor and brilliant performance, but also because it had made a huge number of producers bankrupt during the making. I appreciate your aspiration, but RK my production house does not have people with so much finesse and experience to put up something so grand. Moreover, the country's economy is going down the drain with every passing week this year. There will not be a single financer in the current market scenario who would risk so much money," Bittu tried to explain. Seeing RK not at all convinced he continued saying, "I know you are upset with the press attacking Madhubala's talent, but don't you think this is too much to risk, in such a vulnerable time?" "Even you know it Bittu ji, that you will not lose money in this, instead make a fortune out of it. No problem, I will wait for your consent," said RK and stormed out of the office.
Bittu had to buckle under finally on RK's continual insistence. Again the press started going gaga over the new venture which would be the epitome of magnificence in Indian cinema, never seen before. The Sabharwal production house geared up itself for the new challenge. Bittu wanted to cast Arjun Kapur in Salim's role, but RK refused vehemently. "I do not want Arjun to steal the spotlight from Madhubala again. This will be solely centered on Anarkali. We can cast someone less prominent opposite her," opined RK to a flabbergasted Bittu. "You have completely lost it RK!! Do you think people will come to see this 100 crores movie for some random newbie? This movie will be on the floor only when Arjun is in it," stated Bittu. So, in this regard RK decided to listen to his producer.
The 16th century set was being put up in the Filmcity studio, but RK decided to shoot some scenes in real locations of Fatehpur Sikri and Agra Fort. The film unit reached Agra and the shooting started as per the schedule. They had to shoot a song sequence in the full moon night. The Panch Mahal was refurbished for this purpose, and it glowed like a btrand new piece of exquisite architecture. Madhu was dressed in a milk white salwar suit, embellished with beautiful diamond jewellery. She stood on the top storey and waited for the unit to prepare the shot. Suddenly she felt a pat at her shoulder, and thinking it to be RK she turned around to see Arjun. "You look ethereal Madhubala," said Arjun while brushing off a strand of hair from her face. "At first I doubted RK's choice, but now even I am convinced that no one else could do justice to this role but you. No wonder he has fallen for you in spite of being a married man," said Arjun while smirking. Madhu's face hardened at his remark but she did not have any apt answer for him. As she tried to walk past him, Arjun grabbed her hand saying, "Hey Madhu, I was just joking girl." "Your sense of humour is sick, just sick. And please do not call me Madhu, because everyone is not allowed to call me by that name," said Madhu while freeing her hand from his hold.
The song sequence went well for the unit, but for Madhu it was not easy. She just could not feel comfortable in Arjun's hold anymore. She had done scenes in close proximity with him in the past, but she had never felt such ill at ease with him. But today his gaze pierced through her. As if he knew all her secrets and that was disquieting enough for her. There was another soul in the unit, who was not very comfortable with the shots. Each time Arjun held Madhu in the shot, RK would try to dissect each and every touch on Madhu's skin, and he would be boiling inside. He was losing the edge; his professionalism was slipping out of his mind. It was almost 3 in the morning when the shoot was over. The unit members started packing up everything when RK approached Arjun. "Hey RK, I hope things are all fitting well in your frame," Said Arjun while trying to mimic RK's gesture of framing up a scene with his hands. "Stop trying to get too close to Madhu. I know about your intentions very well Arjun," muttered RK. "Whoa, chill man. I was just doing what the choreographer asked me to do. And its Salim Anarkali man, you have to have that extra romance in there to make it a legend buddy," said Arjun while patting RK on his shoulder and walking past. "Just do as I say Arjun!! I am the director, so I will tell you how much romance you have to put in!!" shouted RK, without realizing the people present around witnessing the scene. Arjun stopped and turned back, this time his eyes glistening with rage. "Don't try to dictate me RK, I am not a novice in this industry," spat out Arjun. "It is my film and I decide what to do in it. I don't need your improvisations," shouted RK in anger. Arjun narrowed his eyes and then looked around to see the whole production unit ogling their altercation. It was enough humiliation for a star of his stature. Although RK had been his good pal, but definitely he was not closer to him than his goodwill. "You know what RK? You are correct. This is your film, and I am leaving it right now, right here," said Arjun and stormed out of the location.
Bittu was in the hotel room when this entire fracas was taking place. He got a call from Ritu, who frantically tried to narrate him the entire incident. Bittu got furious and asked her, "Where are Arjun and RK now?" "Arjun sir has already left for the airport. RK went back to the hotel," said Ritu. Bittu rushed out of his room and headed towards RK's room. RK had not reached his room yet. Bittu waited outside the room for few minutes then decided to come back later. While he was crossing the corridor, he heard muffled cry from a room, the door of which was left slightly open. "Isn't it Madhubala's room? What happened to her?" said Bittu to himself and went to knock at her door when he heard another familiar voice. "How dare he touch you like this? I could have slashed his hands out for holding you like that," said RK while clutching Madhu hard, who was sobbing uncontrollably. "Don't cry Madhu, we will get a better replacement and this shoot will not stop. Stop crying," said RK and kissed her longingly, while holding her against the wall. "RK!! How could you lower yourself so down? That too for this wh**e? You are dead, completely dead!!" shouted Bittu, jolting both RK and Madhu. "Bittu ji," called out RK in shock. But before he could explain anything, Bittu had left the scene.
