"Happy birthday RK!" he heard her voice on the phone. And when he was about to respond, he realized it was an audio message.
"I had planned a lot for this very day, but a lot has changed between us lately. And I'm not even sure if you want to celebrate your birthday with me anymore." She continued. "I don't know what went wrong RK, why aren't we like we were once upon a time?" She paused for a second. "I wish we could be together, forever. I love you RK. May all your dreams come true!" The message came to an abrupt end.
He sighed in despair as he recollected the events that occured in the last few days. His father's name had been tarnished. His mother was shattered, and was now on medicines to cope with depression. Madhu was convinced by her buddy and she being the loyal friend, had willingly agreed to help him prove his identity. Of course, RK never doubted her fidelity after the wedding day fiasco, but he was not happy.
Dipali was too elated with the happenings. She had stopped watching the television coz' so much was happening LIVE and she would rightly point out to Sikky "All this, without me being involved!"
Time flew. The friend had learnt his lessons. The story turned out fake. He left RK mansion, ashamed.
And when Dipali thought the love-birds would commence a rosy life again, things got worse. Madhu and RK's romantic and witty banters had now given way for major arguments. Screaming and quarreling were a routine now. In fact, RK had begun returning home late at night, to find Madhu asleep at the dining table. And when he would want to pacify her the next day, she would seldom spare time for him. Everything was grossly wrong. Neither was happy.
When the Father-Who! chapter was closed, RK decided to let his mother have a break. He asked her to move to Delhi for a couple of months, so she could use a breather. Madhu had announced that she would be accompanying her to Delhi so she could take care of her, leaving RK extremely disappointed.

"I miss you Madhu? Why did you go away? You know I need you to be with me, every single day!" he spoke letting out a sigh, as he lay on his couch with his moist eyes closed.
"You just have to call me RK, I'll be right in front of you!" RK remembered Madhu's words, and got up with a jerk.
"Madhu! Madhu! Are you there?" he called out to her, to find no response.
"You lied to me, I called you, you didn't come!" he muttered, disheartened. "I wish I could tell you how much I love you and how much I miss you."
"So tell me then!"
RK could not believe what he saw. Madhu was standing there, gorgeous as ever, in her trademark peach-colored Anarkali suit, with a cute little birthday cap on her head, a heart shaped balloon with RK-Madhu written on it in one hand, and his birthday cake in the other. RK's joy knew no bounds. He clapped like a delighted kid, and leapt to his feet. And before Madhu knew it, she was pulled into a warm hug.
"I knew it Madhu!! I knew you would come!" he went on and on, before Madhu shushed him.
"I'm sorry RK. I'm sorry for everything that happened between us. I have no clue about what went wrong. I thought it would be best if I accompanied Maa to Delhi. Perhaps this way we would realize each other's importance. And once I went away, I fathomed how incomplete life was without you. Our baseless arguments, whatever they were, happened only coz' we let them happen. We hardly had time for each other. Not anymore. I'm here TO STAY!" she ended her speech with a broad beam.
"Madhu! You have no idea how crazy I went to not have you around. I'm sorry too. I guess you're right. We let things happen. You need to know Madhu that it is impossible for me to stay away from you." he spoke in a sorrowful tone.
"Aww! That's alright." Madhu handed him the balloon, trying to cheer him up. "Here birthday boy! This is for you. It's my heart by the way, so take good care of it." She put the birthday cap on his head and cuddled up to him.
"TADA! Presenting to you! The birthday cake!" she announced after the hug.
RK was more than thrilled. He was in seventh heaven. Madhu lit the birthday candles, carefully counting them "RK, I was wondering, do you turn 25 or 26 today?" she said with a chuckle. "BIWIII" RK chided her.
RK asked her to cut the cake along with him, they sang Happy Birthday RK and fed cake to each other.
"And now, time for the birthday gift!" she declared.
"Whoa! Didn't I get enough surprises already?" RK's face lit up with impish glee.
"Now don't get ideas RK" she said, turning red.
Madhu handed over a box to him. RK opened it, and was stupefied to see a dazzling wrist watch. She carefully fastened it around his wrist. RK caressed her cheek lovingly, while she looked at him with dreamy eyes.
They were back together, and this time it was gonna be forever and ever.
"Oh RK! I forgot to tell you something?"
"What is it?"
"I love you."
"And I love you too, three, four."
"And the most important thing. How could I even forget?"
"What is it Madhu?"
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY RK!"
