Hi eveyone..I am a silent reader in this forum..But I really love the writing of most of you guys here..this is my first attempt to an OS..I am not a writer..so sorry for all the mistakes in advance..hope you guys would like it
IT HURTS
It was the day Madhu has waited for so long...finally the day was here when her mission to teach RK a lesson was going to be accomplished. She found it ironic, but a happy nervousness was running through her body. After so much of planning..so much effort..finally the day was here.
RK had finally accepted his feelings for her and wanted to get married to her. "Marriage", the term he has made a mockery of. When he bent down on his knees to propose her for marriage, she felt she will burst and say "No" to him. It took her every ounce of self control to smile up to him and accept his proposal. She wanted to make the "heartbreak" grand..or you can say "RK Style".
She got ready in the bridal wear RK had gifted her. Flashes of her earlier marriages took over her, and made her fire to get revenge stronger. RK would get what he sowed..karma is a bitch..and its was RK's time to understand it.
The venue was beautiful..with flowers all around. There were pictures of them together as a couple all around, and in center a small temple where the pandit was getting ready for the hawan.
RK stood smiling near the hawan kund looking dashing in a pale cream colored sherwani. He had a pink pagdi on his head which made him look really cute. As soon as he saw Madhu,he rushed to her and took her in his arms. His smile was infectious, and Madhu can't help herself but smile at his eagerness. He looked as a kid who was getting his favorite chocolate.. and that too in loads. It pained Madhu, when she remembered her excitement when she was supposed to get married. But she can't let this weaken her. It was a fight which she had to win for herself and her self respect.
Soon, the pheres started. She looked around, and found mummy ji throwing flowers happily. Deepali was still staring her with suspicious looks, which made Madhu smile inwardly.
4 pheres were over. It was showtime. Madhu stopped abruptly..which made RK stop too in his tracks. He turned back smiling to ask what is the matter. Madhu remembered the same scene..when he had stopped and she had turned back to ask what is the matter. Madhu steeled herself, now was no time to back out. Madhu smiled and said "Thats it, I think I don't want to marry you". RK was shocked beyond words. He was not able to register what he heard..so he stuttered "What". Everybody was stunned too to see this avatar of Madhu.
Madhu: Yes RK, you heard me right..its pack up time sweetheart..
RK felt his whole world crumbling around him. He felt a sharp pain pass through his whole body, and he realized it was the pain of heartbreak. He was not alien to it, he had his own share of heartbreaks, but the pain which he felt now made him remember the time when his father left him alone in the world.
RK: Madhu, what are you saying..you love me..you have said it so many times..I know you love me..please don't do this to me..I will die without you.
Madhu(smiling): Don't you think you have heard these words before..aah..a few months back it was me who was saying these words to you..pleading you..to not spoil our marriage. But what did you do, you said "Rishab unweds Madhu". So this time, I would like to say "Madhu unweds Rishab"
RK: You can't do this Madhu. You are not RK. You are a good person, you have a good heart. I want to start a new life with you. Please forgive me for the past. I promise I will keep you very happy.
Madhu: I know I am a good person, and I deserve someone better. I can't live with a person who treats me as a toy..when he wants he plays with me and when he wants he throws me away..you don't deserve me RK..you don't.
At this, RK stood still. He knew she was speaking the truth. He didn't deserve her. Tears starting to well up in his eyes..and he defeated look came on his face.
RK(whispering): This means it was all your plan..to take revenge from me..this means you never loved me..it was all a lie.
Madhu: Yes sweetheart..it was all a plan..a plan to show you how it hurts..the countless time I said "I love you" to you was a plan. Tumhe jawab jo dena tha, tumare hi tarike se. So tell me, how does it feel to see your dreams getting shattered by the same person you loved the most in your life..how does it feel to know that the moments you cherished were all a lie..
RK: It feels terrible..it feels as life has been sucked out of your body and you can do nothing about it..but you tell me how does it feel..to know that you have broken somebody's heart to pieces..you have given someone so much pain that it will take ages to come out of it.
Madhu was thoroughly confused now..
RK: I know I broke your heart..gave you so much pain..and it hurts..it really does..I am not unaware of that pain..I have faced it many times. Whenever I loved somebody, that person left me and went away. I loved Papa, but he went away on his will. No body murdered him, he commited suicide on his free will..and I felt the pain..Mom married another man..today I can understand but at that time a 8 year boy can't..she went away on her free will..and I felt that pain again..Deepali, I loved her like crazy..dreamt about having a family with her, but she left me saying that I don't have the "money" and she can't spend her life only on love..and again I felt the pain..and now you are leaving me..the person who taught me to love again, who made me feel that may be I should trust people, people are good..and you are leaving on your free will..and that hurts..it is hurting a lot.
But let me tell you one thing Madhu, it also hurts to know that you have broken someone's heart beyond repair..it hurts to see that you have destroyed somebody. After I left you at alter, not a single day passed when I didn't feel guilty..feel bad about what I did. I thought I would be happy after my "badla", but the fact is I never was. Your thoughts made me stay awake in nights, having you so close on set,see your sad face and your tears killed me..I tried to show off that I don't care..but I always cared..I tried so much to shoo you away from the set..so that I don't see you..and I don't feel the sinking feeling I got when I realized that those tears were due to me.
If taking this revenge makes you feel better..then I won't question you..you are right..I deserve this..from today I will feel the pain you felt..but Madhu..you will also feel the pain I felt..and believe me..that hurts too..I love you and will always love you..but I suppose our story ends here..
Saying that..RK broke down..tears streamed from his eyes..and he went away.
Madhu stood still..seeing his back..and suddenly felt a sharp pain in her heart..RK was right..it does hurt.
