Sultan and Madhubala may have known each other for a short period of time, but the already developing level of trust that they share is enough for any new relationship to last long and healthy. Especially friendship. Because your friends don't judge you. They stand by you through thick and thin, supporting you without question and helping you do the right thing. They don't hold grudges and forgive and forget easily. Which is why friendship is the most valued and important relationship.
Madhubala felt a great deal of guilt and regret for taunting Sultan about his dead wife over the phone. She immediately went to him for an apology, but Sultan forgave her with the blink of an eye, leaving her shocked. He knows Madhubala is still suffering, and didn't for once hesitate to tell her that if he feels she's in pain, he would come to help her in a heartbeat. Because a true friend never gets in your way unless you happen to be going down. And all Madhubala was able to ask in her perplexed state was "Why Sultan?"
Indeed, why Sultan? That question will loom large over him until he finds an answer to that. And more than Madhu, he owes himself that answer. Sultan is a man who values relationships more than anything else. Whether they are new or old doesn't matter to him. If he considers someone to be close enough to them, he would do everything in his power for their happiness. And now, Madhubala has become a part of that mini-group he cares about too. They might not talk a lot with each other, but that unspoken bond is the beauty of their relationship. Sultan instantly knew what was going on in Madhubala's mind when he offered to drop her home. And before she could refuse, he told her he'd drop her a little way before her house so that she doesn't face any problems. That single gesture left a surprised but content smile on her face. She was surprised and happy at the same time to find out how well he understands her in just a short period of time.
They don't need words to communicate. Their body language is enough to give away what's in their heart. Even though Madhu didn't say it, Sultan knew she was unhappy and disturbed about something. And he was right when he said she couldn't lie to him. Madhubala didn't realize why and how she confided in him to tell him that she has been lying to everybody, and the moment she did, she stopped herself from going further. And Sultan respected her enough to not push her into telling him more. He is aware of how Madhu feels for him. And it's just a human-to-human feeling from her side as of now, Whereas Sultan considers her to be his friend. And he doesn't mind keeping it that way. He doesn't ask Madhu for more but respects her even if she doesn't want to reciprocate his friendship. All he asks from her is a promise to confide in her family about what's bothering her so she'd feel light at heart. And Madhubala instantly respected that promise and went straight to her Mother. They not only trust, but respect and understand each other without any conditions.
These little incidents are enough proof of a healthy bond between two people. Love, trust and respect are the three most important factors in any relationship. Without them, a relationship cannot last. Sultan and Madhubala may not love each other romantically, but they trust and respect each other more than words could ever explain. They don't need to name their relationship, they don't need to give explanations of justifications, because they know that what they share is completely pure and platonic. They know that they have each others backs and they would be there when you need someone the most.
A character's profession is not the thing that makes you admire or hate them. It's the character's personality traits.
Madhubala - A simple and ordinary girl who lives in a chawl and has a below average income to support her family. But is a strong, independent and brave woman who fights for the right thing till the end and never backs down.
Rishabh Kundra - A rich and famous Movie Star with a bad past. He has everything that a person could wish for, money, good looks, fame and a Mother and wife who loved him dearly, which he never respected. He is insecure and vengeful and enjoys inflicting pain on others and watching them wallowing in misery and hides his true emotions behind the barrier of his ego.
Sultan - A Gangster with an even worse past, who can kill people with the blink of an eye. But has a heart that actually beats for his near and dear ones. He respects the people he cares about and would do anything to help them out in need. He can play with guns and bullets, but he would never play with someone's feelings and emotions.
I am not comparing any character to the other. Just listing out their personality traits. Because I don't admire a character for his/her resume. I admire them for their personalities and qualities. Just a witty dialogue from a character cannot impress me, there's a lot more to them then just that. Sultan and Madhu have come a long way from being two people who couldn't stand the sight of each other. From strangers to friends, their journey wasn't smooth. They faced a lot of hurdles, but passed them together. What destiny has in store for them next is something that they both are unaware of. But whatever it is, trust would be a huge part of it. Below is a quote that perfectly sums up their scene in today's episode.
P.S: Bashers, stay away!
