Chapter 9

As Trishna helped Rishab, who was in Madhu's body pack up her things, Padmini and Madhu, who was in Rishab's body had a stare down, 1800's cowboy style. Only thing missing was the clothing ' cowboy boots; made with high heels to keep from slipping through saddle stirrups and as a brace in roping, chaps and chap-guard; worn as protection against the brush and weather, cowboy hat or Stetson, and the .45 caliber pistol loaded with gun powder and a metal bullet that was blunt on the end worn low on the hip. Not to forget the cheezy background music that always plays before one or the other gun-slinger draws. As she kept looking at her mother, all she could see was John Wesley Hardin, the most bloodthirsty figure of the Old West, who was known for his quick draw and the high number of dead bodies he left behind. She tried to shake off that image but found that she couldn't.

There was wind in the air and Padmini suddenly raised her hand up suddenly. As she did so, sunlight bounced off something in her hand and hit Madhu squarely in the face. Madhu who was already paranoid after the talk Rishab had with her regarding her mother and guns and after just having a cowboy gun-fighting daydream, the sudden movement caught her off guard and she lifted her hands up and covered her face for protection and screamed. "Aaah.." Padmini looked at Rishab and then looked at her hand which she used to move her freely flying tresses back into its place. She was still holding onto the knife she was using earlier to cut vegetables before their arrival. She smiled. So he is scared of me huh? Good to know. She wiped off the smile from her face before Rishab could notice.

But someone did notice the smile, Rishab, who was inside packing his stuff. He had rushed out when he heard Madhu scream and reached just in time to see Padmini looking at the knife in her hand and then smiling at Madhu, who she believed to be him, Rishab. He smiled at the scene before him. The smile on her face was the smile of a parent who was happy to know that she managed to instil the fear of a fate worse than death in the person who was going to take her daughter away. Wow she was good... Without even saying a word she put her point across. But seriously these Maliks must have been circus performers or assassins in another life, what with the knife and gun skills. They never let their aim go to waste. If they have fired their gun or thrown their knife, it will definitely hit their target, bullseye. They should have a board put outside the chawl entrance with the warning ' 'Dangerous Assassins Ahead. Enter at your Own Risk.'

As they finished loading the car, Trishna walked upto Rishab, right into his face and looked him straight in the eye. Okay this was too much now. First Maa and now Didu giving Rishab a warning, like she couldn't take care of herself. This was getting way too irritating now. "Yes, yes Trishna, I know the drill. You hurt her and I will kill you. Heard it a million times. Come up with something new." Trishna smiled and said, "Then how about this. You hurt her and SHE will kill you."

Rishab giggled and walked upto Madhu whispering, "Looks like I have rubbed off not only on you but your entire family. They are taking drama to a whole new level."

Madhu poked Rishab in the chest, "My family is just playing their role in the drama you started but you are the Drama King." She looked at him from top to bottom. "Or should I say Drama QUEEN." She burst out laughing and went to get seated in the car, leaving Rishab red-faced.

What the hell is going on? Deepali looked on as Mummyji performed arti. Till yesterday the name Madhu was banned in this house and anyone who dared utter her name was shown the door, what shown the door, met the door personally with his face. Poor Patil... he mistakenly took the name Madhu Bhabi and received a free nose reconstruction surgery. And today RK is personally escorting her into back into his personal domain.

"Madhu darlin' so happy to see you back. I don't know how you do it? You should let me onto this secret. Once you set your sights and throw in the bait, you make sure you reel in the biggest fish. What a skill you got there!! Which school did you learn it from, 'By Hook or Crook School of Bagging Rich & Handsome Husbands'?"

Rishab looked at Deepali and smirked. If she thinks she can get away with bullying him, she has another thing coming. He looked at Madhu who seemed very happy and content and was busy hugging Maa and turned back to the problem at hand. "Deepali darlin' at least I passed with distinction...", he turned towards Sikki and nodded towards him, "You failed miserably... you didn't even get one of the two criteria right - neither rich nor handsome. So sad. Better luck in another life time."
