You always take the words right out of my mouth. I'd much rather prefer an actual story then just fillers in between some random rmisplaced romantic scenes. But ive come to accept that a lot of young people just want to watch a cheap love story, over a good show. They refuse to give RK time to feel sorry for what he did, they don't want Madhubala to have some self respect and carry on with her life, and they don't want to give decent plot development a shot. And i especially don't understand people who bash the cvs. There's only a limited number of choices the writers have when their main lead takes days off so often. And that's not me hating on VD. Good for him, he needs to have free time to enjoy his married life away from a hectic shoot schedule. But the writers also need to make due with what their given. And im pretty sure impressionable young teenagers looking for a cheap romance isn't the only demographic for the show. As much as i hate it, kitchen politics and saas bahu dramas are what attracts an older audience.
