Chapter Nineteen – Night In A Hotel

It had been an hour since we left home. Madhu had not stopped driving as the drive went by silently. The swerve of the car broke the silence.

"Madhu?"

"Huh? Oh, sorry."

"You alright?"

"Just slightly tired."

"Pull over to the side."

As soon as she stopped the car on the side of the road. I turned to stare at her.

"Why haven't you stopped driving yet? It's been an hour."

"I can't stop. I don't know where to stop. Everyone knows me. Everyone, everywhere. Ma and papa will find us. We'll be in the paper the very next mor…"

"Madhu."

"Hm?"

"Who said we're running away from your parents?"

"We're not?"

"No. We're going to go back to set tomorrow and the day after and every day after that. If your dad wants to find us, he'll already know where to."

"So we can stay anywhere?"

"Anywhere."

She smiled and placed the key back in the ignition.

"Wait. I'm driving."

"Alright, I was waiting for you to speak up!"

"Sorry, I was having trouble figuring out if you're possessive over your car or not."

"Shut up RK. You know I'm not like that."

I laughed and as soon as I was in the driver seat, I drove off to find us a place to stay.

I walked into the small hotel room slowly. I threw the car keys onto the closest table and my jacket on the bed. I heard her footsteps behind me, sounding hesitant. I turned to stare at her. She seemed to be in an uncomfortable stance.

"Everything alright?"

"Huh? Oh…yeah…perfect."

"Madhu, if you're afraid someone will see us then I c…"

"No. No, that's not it."

"Then what is it?"

She looked up at me and then towards the bed. She walked past me and went to take a seat on the edge of the bed.

"I'm just overwhelmed."

"Why?"

I went to sit beside her on the bed.

"So much happened today…it's finally hitting me. I mean, I ran away from home. Do you have any idea how angry my parents will be? I ran away from home with a guy they think I've known only for a few weeks. I ran away from home with a guy I only knew in my childhood. A guy I literally met a few weeks ago."

"You don't trust me."

I stood up, knowing my closeness was making her uncomfortable.

"No. I trust you. But that's what I'm afraid of."

I didn't understand what she meant, so I kept silent while staring down at her. She kept her eyes to the ground.

"I've never trusted anyone before. I've always lived for myself. I've never placed my life into someone else's hands. I'm scared RK."

It made sense. She was superstar 'Mona'. The last thing she'd want to do is hand her life over to someone else. She looked up at me with a vulnerable look. I grabbed her hand and made her stand. I gently wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her close. Holding her tightly in my arms, silently letting her know I'd never hurt her and I'd always be there for her. She wrapped her arms around me in return. I pulled away slowly and looked down into her eyes. Our noses nearly touched.

"I love you. I never thought the day would come where I'd be holding you in my arms telling you I love you, but it's here. And I want you to know that I will never hurt you. I will always be here for you. But I need you to trust me. I can't do this without you Madhu."

"I trust you…I love you RK."

She pushed herself into my arms again for an embrace. We remained in our embrace for a few minutes, when she pulled away. She looked around the room and then back at me.

"I didn't bring any clothes."

I let out a laugh as I went to open my luggage.

"You can wear this."

I tossed her a large t-shirt. She grabbed it, held it in front of her and smiled.

"This is different."

"It's comfortable. Unlike the normal clothes you wear. I doubt you're comfortable in those."

"I have an image to maintain!"

"Says the girl staying with a guy, alone, in a hotel room, with one bed."

"Oh shut up!"

She laughed and headed towards the bathroom to change. When she walked out in only a t-shirt, I had to remind myself to breathe. She honestly looked beautiful in anything she wore. Her bare legs shone in the room's light as she walked towards me. I looked her up and down.

"Hm, not bad. You can rock my clothes better than me."

She giggled as she shied away and went to lie down in bed.

"Come! I want to sleep."

"Sleep without me! I need to rehearse."

"Rehearse a stunt?"

"For your information, Mr. Chopra assigned me a role in the movie!"

"But that was only one scene."

"The script says otherwise."

"What?!"

She sat up in bed as I went to go sit beside her in bed.

"Is it another scene with me?"

"Do you WANT another scene with me?"

I winked at her as I watched her cheeks flush red.

"Maybe we can re-do the scene from earlier?"

"Oh shut up RK! Go to sleep!"

"What?! You don't want to?!"

"You're serious?!"

"I wouldn't force you to do anything you don't want to."

"Hmm…"

She grabbed the script from my hands and threw it away. She wrapped her arms around me and smiled.

"You mean take 2."

"Same thing RK…Action!"
