Madhubala SHERNI MALIK you are the love of my life. Her completely and utterly disinterested gaze at RK was so spot on! Blank stares, shrugs that mean nothing, eyebrow raises, everything about her subtlety was perfect! RK trying so hard to get her to become anything but stoic was hilariously pathetic. I feel nothing for this man anymore. No sympathy, no anger, no frustration. Nothing. He is a pathetic and weak man, who's foundation is his faulty ego and I will laugh the day he falls.
I don't hate him and he does nothing for me anymore. He's merely a Mt Everest sized obstacle in my baby Madhu's path and I just need him to erode and fade away.
But that precap is so symbolic of everything that RK is. Discarding her dupatta is the shedding of her innocence, and doing it in front of the camera is the stripping of her modesty to the world. That does not mean that Madhu will betray who and what she is, when she does become an actress. It just means that RK is thrusting her headfirst into the world that will welcome her with unabashed glory. RK doesn't even know what he's done. He thinks that he's ruining everything she is made of by laying her bare to the world.
He's wrong.
What he's done is that he's slowly started to break her cocoon, she's unraveling before him and the world. When she eventually emerges as the triumphant butterfly, symbolic of beauty and hope, he will be eating his own flesh because of the madness she has stirred in him. He will want her beauty, her fire, her everything. He will want to possess her so much that it will eat him alive. But Madhu as the elusive and wonderful butterfly will only fly away from his touch. The more he will try to cage her, the faster she will fly away.
I know a lot of people are upset that what he's doing is so basically irredeemable. But that's the point. He isn't a hero, even if he PLAYS the hero. Just because RK is the only male lead in this show paired opposite our female doesn't mean that we have to automatically push these two together. That's not going to happen, especially in a show like Madhubala. The CVs have shown time and time again how TRUE they remain to the characters, because it is a character driven show. So frankly I'm not surprised he's pulling more of these stunts because RK is the devil in plain form and no disguise. They are also making it super obvious that instead of rooting for the lead pair, we SHOULD be rooting for Madhu. And I am all aboard the Madhu express.
I think what people tend to forget, especially due to the style of Indian shows, is that the female character in a show IS NOT a conquest. She is not a prize to be won, and she is not a pursuit through which a bad boy will redeem himself. Madhubala is neither of these things. Madhubala is a character and a person of her own right. She has her own agency and if she says that RK is harassing her or is treating her like crap then she is right. Madhubala needs to be viewed as her OWN person, and NOT as half of Rishbala. Because Rishbala doesn't exist in that form anymore, hell it doesn't exist at all.
What we have are two separate entities. Madhubala. RK. They belong to each other as much as the sun belongs to the night. RK may have been trying to get Madhu to become jealous but it was because he wanted to know if he could use her emotions against her. He's a cold hearted son of a gun and Madhu is having none of it. It's not a love story right now. It's a hate story, and I would very much refrain from romanticizing any of the verbal abuse he puts her through. It not only downgrades Madhu as a character, but also puts RK on a pedestal (one that he does not deserve).
Like I said before however, this ship (Rishbala) will sail but not yet. And because it isn't their time right now, I can hate on RK all I want because the man is the soil beneath Madhu's feet. And until his redemption arc I will continue to call him a pathetic coward who runs from his fear of what Madhu does to him, instead of manning up to what he feels.
So until RK becomes Rishabh, my posts will basically be all about how awesome Madhu is, and how desperately crazy RK's junoon is.
