Awesome analysis Leela, I am totally in awe of your ability to read between the lines, indeed between the molecules of the lines themselves, and get to the core of the characters!
A second viewing of (selected portions of) the episode today left me equally entertained. When the focus is kept on Madhu and RK, I was struck by the depth of the love they now feel for each other, the ability, the desire even, to die for each other if required. Your essay on this passion really captures this love so well.
Shri, I also so loved your "touch therapy" take on Madhu's relationship with RK. Come to think of it, which of us would like to take on a prickly, self-obsessed jerk and make a go of it. She did (she was forced to) and boy, has she succeeded! Touch therapy totally works with her and him!!! Wonder how much it will improve his temper when they really begin "touching" if you know what I mean!
Leela, one last thought - here's a copy/paste of something I put on Shri's ED thread. This struck me when someone else in the forum connected the dots between Madhu's dangling from the noose, and RK's Dad's suicide -
Someone has put up an interesting thought in the forum - what if RK had a flashback to his father's death when he saw Madhu dangling from the noose? I don't know if anyone else discussed this, but I was staggered by the thought - it would totally account for his momentary freezing there.
I went back and saw this portion of the epi. He freezes, then manages to get over to her and hold her up. He then looks up at her and shakes his head repeatedly as if to say "Not this time...not this time". If this is what the CVs intended (and if yes, they may bring this back up in a later epi), kudos to them!
