I am curious why do you think that Only Padmini's curse has to come true and not Trishna's (Have both of them not come true already?) and why you think this is such a huge part of narrative. Also why do you think that she will never accept RK. It is foolish but love is not something you control actively. Also why would he change if he does not want to be in love and what would Madhu gain from a revenge...maybe she will give him a broken heart but what then...simple logic defines that RK understands that Madhu will never trust him again so he has to something completely unconventional.

im guessing Trishna's curse has a greater part to play in the seperation than we may think. it is why we were reminded of it today. RK nows for some reason when he is around Madhu she is in danger.

Now look at it from RK's perspective- she humiliated him publically and put him in jail for 4 days (agree they are not the same thing to a normal sane person...but RK's perspective is skewed) still he was expected to fall in love with this person ...more so now he is missing her and he wants her close by(Hence the denial).
