Weekend Portraits: RishBala Recap updated

since many of you enjoyed last week's recaps i am back with more😃
thanks to Sonu for the hatke title... and to the uploaders in pic and creation gallery for the pics and the siggy... hope you don't mind my borrowing them...so here is the week that passed for you...

The saree war is on.. .

he has now lost his anger and is trying to tease or cajole her out of her stubbornness.

She asks what is the tantrum with the saree and he subtly reminds her of the time when he had bend down to her drama over the liquor bottles...

He patiently asks her to stop being stubborn and change...

Or else? "Will you tie me up and throw me down?" She challenges?

Not a bad idea he replies..

Eh? She is shocked...

Haan he teases..

that and the naughty smile has won the silly fight for him.

Coming down the stairs together, she moves past him on seeing her family.

He is happy with her happiness.

But in the gathering he is back to his brusque self...his arrogance is reflected in his order to sit with him... what one misses there is his acceptance of her position in his life... not making a mockery of their relation like the last time he did at the party but a genuine acceptance of her as his in the eyes of the almighty. And yes he may have softened his attitude towards her, gentled a bit for her but he is still the RK for everybody else.

Sitting with her, her lingering disquiet has not gone unnoticed and he tries to tease her out of it by complimenting her.

But it is his acceptance of her family pleases her.

Doing his duty by the god and showing his respect to her believes ( for I am sure he knew Madhu along with his mother would have wanted him to be present while they thanked the almighty for his life) and his disrespect to those whom he thinks does not deserve it, he bids goodbye to go back to his room.

Like an ever good wife she follows.

At the stairs he is annoyed by her attempts to treat him like an invalid

and tries to bug her by stating that she has enough reason to wish him death.

She does not fall for it

He lets her know he was conscious of her presence near him while he was fighting death.

Do you remember that... she asks

but a secretive smile is the only answer she gets...

Did he know she was upset with the news delivered by the police and was trying to distract.

Was he using the opportunity to declare that he considered her above suspicion and he was aware of her fight to make him hold on to life while it was slipping away?

As much as he acknowledges God's grace, he acknowledges her will too in saving him.

Madhu is angry at him and goes in for the silent treatment.

He tries to tease her out of it, hoping his wish to be fed will soften her attitude.

When she does that standing he pushes foot stool forward silently demanding that she sit with him.

She refuses to mellow down but gives in to his wish sans smile or even a glance.

He watches her trying to make her look at him without success.

He can't stand her silence or the indifference.

He demands that she speak up ...

She refuses to respond even to his annoyance. Why, because she did not wish for another fight?

He is adamant that he will make her vent and gives her the chance to do that in the guise of practising his script.

There was a pause before she says sometimes what you do makes me feel like you don't deserve to be called human... then a barest of pause after it as if she is not comfortable being reminded of her accusations long back...

but he edges her on and when she goes on about hating him he snatches the file away

and demands that she tell him what is troubling her. She ignores his demand does not spare him a glance while he taunts...

He changes tactics and teases that he will wait for her answer even if it takes a lifetime... drawing her eyes to him.

He smiles victorious...

Finally she give in to his demand and bursts out accusing him of insulting her family.

Even expecting her to misunderstand him, hoping that she does that rather than find out about her father, he can't stop himself grabbing her in anger and pain when she says that he lowers himself in her eyes by his deeds.

He wishes to protest... to reveal the truth...But doesn't...

he bears the blame of makiing her father upset...what is one more accusation on his ego when he could protect her from the truth of her father... He understands the respect and love she has for her father... better he be the Janwar than break her trust... Her bond with her father.

It was ironic that she asked the question "What is the limit to your EGO?" barely hours after his encounter with Mallik. Had she witnessed it, it would have given her the answer loud and clear... Her happiness set the limit to his ego...

i will update the last part by sunday afternoon...

Eavesdropping into her phone convo with her mom he learns that she still misses them...

He is troubled with all that he had learned in the day... the medicine brought by bittuji and the servant reminds him of Madhu's displeasure... may be it was the realization that her being upset disturbed him that made him lash out that he does not wish for anybody's support...

But no sooner does he learn that she has not had her dinner he is back to finding measures to comfort her.

As expected she comes in search of him when she finds out that he did not have his medicine...

she is surprised to find Mr. India in the entertainment room...

He acknowledges all that he had done for him, in his usual mocking style and asks her to forget everything, even their fight and relax with him...

she has been forced to enter his world but this once he wishes to give her something she likes in his world... a compromise which involves both the choice of both...

A compromise that is continued in Madhu having the dinner he had arranged to be brought for her and he taking the medicine...

Having achieved what he set out to do he falls asleep watching her enjoying the movie... the silence that prevailed between them no longer uncomfortable with secrets and accusations.

Finding him asleep she tries to make him comfortable, covering him with shawl and adjusting the pillows...

he wakes up and finds her cupping his face...

did he get to see the tenderness in her eyes moments before it turned to confusion and embarrassment seeing him awake?

As if their proximity in the dim lights of the room was not enough for the escalating heartbeats the movie plays the most romantic and sensuous song of the movie... trapping them in a world of awareness yet to be acknowledged.

With trembling voice she claims that she does not like the song and he agrees ... but one could not miss th answering tremor in his voice too.

Her attempts to move away is thwarted by her bangle and she falls forward towards him while the male singer croons "I love you"... an action so similar to any romantic movie... as if he is jerking her back to declare his love...she is caught in the pull of his eyes.

Echoes not just in the background but in the depth her eyes too ... In her agitation as she moves away...

in the apprehension in those downcast eyes...

Their uneasiness about the song speaks volumes about the feelings that are blossoming yet is not ready to acknowledge.

In her hurry to get away from being near him she sits at the chair by his feet ...making it easy for RK to watch her.

He gets a chance to understand the puzzle of the parentage when he makes her open up about her past.

What he learns surprises him and helps him to understand her devotion to Mallik better.

She rushes off in tears pained at her inability to stop the humiliation that she assumes has been rendered to her father.

For once the arrogant Rk who cared nothing for anybody's opinion about him is left shouting at the empty room that he did nothing wrong...

If one needs proof of how important Madhu has become to him, it is in his assurance that he gives his wife that he will not misbehave, for he is a man who never explains his actions to any one ...

it is in his words of reassurance to Mallik ... in his accepting his mistake ...

It is in that hug he gives to the person who tried to kill him not once but thrice... A genuine affection from his part to say no hard feelings and a thanks too for what he had done to keep his Biwi safe.

I would say for me this week was mostly about RK...concentrating more on his shift in attitude towards madhu... Be it the saree war where after the initial anger it seemed like he was more concerned about his wife wearing his old girlfriend's saree which somehow felt demeaning and despicable. Then there was the encounter where his words to Mallik shout at you about how much he treasures Madhu...to the extent that he is ready to forget Mallik's attempts on his life and offer his hand in peace. The week also revealed his regard and the deepening emotions for his wife when he refused to break her trust in her father, instead sacrificed his esteem for her contentment. How could one not admire this man who in spite of being turned down once goes to meet the enemy on his turf to offer the olive branch again? He not just tries to clear the matter but even offers an apology of a sort when it was within his power to hand Mallik over to the police. The hug was a real surprise for we have never found RK being so spontaneous in affection (other than with madhu) ... it was as if RK was paying a tribute to the father Mallik is.( Mallik as a father is a contrast I would say to Mohan Kundra ...as far as one could assume from what has been shown he committed suicide ...he who saved himself from whatever peril was there, leaving his son broken and guilt ridden is pitted against a father who took arms to save his daughter, one who was not even of his blood.)

There were so many I liked in the third update, but will confine to just a few...

Your closing paragraph was superb.. I loved what you wrote there about RK paying a tribute to the father Malik.. I liked how you framed the sentences of your analysis.. short and sweet.. 👏
