The only aspect I will ask you to consider before so completely castigating Radha is that for five of those years Rishu was a child. His testimony would have been seen as irrational, childish and unreliable by Radha. This, unfortunately, is how children are treated-- as is proven by the massive abuse suffered by so many in so many modern societies. This is not just a Radha-specific flaw, but one that is suffered by our way of receiving and processing proof. Unfortunately, adult male testimonies are always privileged over others.

And once Rishu became branded as the 'irrational, grudge-holding difficult' one, his mother has never bothered to see him differently. And he has gone out of his way, like a petulant child, to reinforce that belief, if not with every action, at least as a stated motivation.

Madhu comes to the stage as a pair of new eyes. She is able to form opinions on the basis of observation rather than prejudice. And this allows her to see RK as a misunderstood boy rather than a beast.

This is, of course, a simplistic take. Most people in RK's position are not misunderstood little boys masquerading as villains. They are complex, needy, irrational, cruel, unresolved and childish. And frankly, there is no reason we have been given that allows us to posit that RK is the former and not the latter.

If the writers stick to a believable psychological profile, Madhu is in for a world of pain.

FQ, thanks so much for taking the time to write such a long take in response to my piece.😃
Radha is my one absolute point of detestation in the series. Other characters who have done damage have been villains or grey. But Radha is presented as a weak but *positive* character.
And what is the last straw that makes her unforgiveable in my opinion is her willingness to badmouth her son even while she, her second husband, that husband's son, and that son's wife all live off the 'bad son', with very luxurious room and board and sundry expenses at his expense.
If Radha wants to criticize, then basic decency dictates that she and her family clear out of the house and freeloading lifestyle, and *then* she can talk about Rishabh being a diamond dirtied, etc.😡
And Radha's self-delusion encompasses all points, not just her son Rishabh turned wayward despite her and Kukku's excellent parenting efforts.🤢
It was right in front of Radha that Kukku pressed a 500-rupee note as 'shagun' into Madhu's wounded hand, pressing hard enough that Madhu very noticeably winced in pain.
Radha came and redid the bandaging, but never allowed herself to grasp that Kukku had caused Madhu pain and had backed off from the girl only after doing so.😡
Re. your 'Most people in RK's position are not misunderstood little boys masquerading as villains. They are complex, needy, irrational, cruel, unresolved and childish.' - I have always felt that the storyline *has* portrayed RK even more as the latter than as the former. Misunderstood and posing as a villain he is, but complex, needy, irrational, cruel, unresolved and childish as well absolutely.
And Madhu *is* in for a world of pain, as the storyline will need to cover his emotional rehabiliatation and her love winning him over against all odds.😳 Cliched maybe, but both leads as flawed in their own way as has been shown in this series is a rarity if not unique.😃
So I'm going to wish yet again that the 'Mukund the bore' track had been wrapped up in a fraction of the time so we could have been enjoying the current chemistry of the two lead actors and characters for way longer.😳

@ leela. My efforts re Radha were not in her defence. She is weak and avccilating and so overbearingly dense! But she, in many ways, represents society as it is. Ostrich syndrome at its best.

FQ, your description of Radha is so much more succinct than mine.😃
Actually, after last night's ep and watching Radha behave authoritatively and sensibly (and *not* cringeworthily gullible), I'm hoping they'll do one of those inexplicable and illogical reworkings of her character, and have her suddenly become more immune to the Kukku-Sikky-Dipali manipulations.😊 Watching Shama Deshpande play a strong but nice character is generally a treat.😃
