An earthquake is the result of a sudden release of energy in the Earth's crust that creates seismic waves. They are caused mostly by rupture of geological faults (a defect or break in the crust), but also by other events such as volcanic activity, landslides, or human activities such as mine blasts and nuclear tests. An earthquake's point of initial rupture is called its focus or hypocenter. An earthquake may cause unimaginable damage including injury and loss of life, property damage. The magnitude of earthquakes is measured on the Richter scale.
Case in study
Earth's crust: Rishabh Kundra aka RK's heart
Cause: Human activity- Radhaji's lecture
Hypocenter: Part of RK's heart where he has buried memories of his late father Mohan Kundra's suicide
Seismic waves: All those myriad of emotions chasing through RK's face during and after Radhaji delivered her blow
Magnitude: Registered 8 on the Richter scale.
Consequences: A visibly upset and shaken RK. The unthinkable happens- RK himself goes in search of his missing wife.
Question that still needs an answer is: Is the quake strong enough to change RK-Madhu equation?
