Im a white girl living in NY and i love this show. However...there are some issues i need to get cleared up.

In America, one is unable to complete their marriage to their significant other if they are in any way incoherent (i.e. if you are intoxicated as RK undoubtedly was...your marriage is invalid in American law)

This raises some obvious problems to the american public.

Id like to know if this type of behavior... and this marriage in general... would be allowed in India?

That is disturbing to say the least.

The oppression of women is unacceptable and greatly saddens and disappoints me.

P.S. - What is a "faira?"

P.P.S. - Can i get the name and contact information of the Indian prime minister so I can voice my concerns about the injustice facing women in India today.

Everything is dramatized in Indian serials. Madhubala will stand up and fight for her rights sooner then later. I'm not sure about the legal ramifications about this marriage.

even though its not legal , the thing is this marriage itself is shown to be an imprisonment from the very instance of rk's proposition who calls this marriage a beautiful death for her..s everything that a marriage of courtship stands for..it is going to portray the opposite to truly illustrate the HATE MARRIAGE...and even if its not legal , Madhu won't go away from that house even if people try to help her cause she has truly sacrificed herself for her fathers medical treatment and she has decided that she is going to remain there and face the consequences. and it's "phera"..which means like turns or bouts around a pit of fire which occurs in indian marriages 7 times..where 4 of these bouts symbolise the promises of the husband in a marriage..and the other three bouts symbolise the promises of a wife..However..He didn't let Madhu take her bouts...he only took his..so funnily , the man who will want to destroy her..will end up doing everything those pheras or bouts signify .

Don't take it so seriously. In real life this stuff really doesn't happen it's all really very over dramatized. I don't live in India and I'm pretty sure this marriage wouldn't be considered an actual marriage. RK didn't walk around the fire 7 times with Madhu nor did he fill her maang (parting in her hair) with sindoor (vermillion), nor did he himself put the mangalsutra (wedding chain around Madhu's neck) not to mention the gross disrespect of the rituals with the alcohol.
This marriage was mainly for RK to feed his ego and show the public "I am RK and I have the power".
Rule number 1 of serials: Never use too much logic or you will drive yourself insane. 😆
