U said u aren't aware of marriage rituals right, but all these marriage rituals are made by humans to make promiss by both bride and grrom to keep the sanicity of their relations ship.
But in true, marriage means, we whole heartedly accepting some one into our life, to share our life with them in every aspect.
In this case, Madhu agreed it, she whole heartedly told to her self that I am giving my self... and will lead what ever life my destiny leads.
so exactly to say directly or indirectly she approved RK as her husband, and RK even out of his hatred and the promises he recited, he told every thing related to Madhu nly, making her the centre of his life. In such a case yes this Marriage is a valied marriage.

Hope none of the MB fans throw eggs at me for saying thsi view. but it is what the hidden meaning in all the rituals we do.
