Let us first understand meaning & how TRP/GRPs/Reach/OTS calculated in case of TV.

TRP or Television Rating Point: is percentage of the target audience (TA) who say the program or the commercial in a particular time period.
1 TRP or TVR (Television Rating Point) means 1% of the audience. It is always in percentage.
TVR is time weighted. It means TVR of a program would be different in initial 1 minute & initial 6 minutes because it is calculated on minute by minute basis & later average of all the minutes is considered basis specified period.

It should be noted that we look at program tvr & commercial break tvr separately as they might vary basis different factors like:
Interest level: If interest is high, people generally do not switch to other channels during commercial breaks & thereby break tvrs/viewership is not affected much.
Duration of the commercial break: If commercial break is of longer duration covering multiple number of advertisements (generally called "spots" in case of TV), then chances of drop is break tvrs is higher.
Duration & relevance of ad: If ad is not appealing to the TA or if its duration of the ad is long, then viewer might switch to other channel.

GRPs or Gross Rating Points: It is summation of TVRs. Suppose TVR of Program A & B is 10 & 20 respectively & we have placed 4 spots in each program. Then GRPs would be:
(TVR of Prog A* Number of spots in Prog A) + (TVR of Prog B * Number of spots in Prog B)
= (10*4)+(20*4)=40+80=120 GRPs

GRPs can also be calculated by multiplying reach with frequency. Let us see how reach, frequency & GRPs related to each other with an example:

Two campaigns with different objectives can deliver same GRPs.

Campaign A: Reach is 50% & frequency is 2. Then GRPs would be 50*2 = 100
Campaign B: Reach is 25% & frequency is 4. Then GRPs would be 25*2 = 100

Thus depending upon the objective of our campaign, we can deliver GRPs with high frequency or high reach.

Now, question arises: When do we emphasize on reach? & when on frequency? We emphasize on reach when communication is fresh (product launch or new creative) or when we want to reach maximum number of people in short span of time (Sales promotion). We emphasize on frequency to break media clutter, communicate complex message with repeat advertising or to remain TOM (top of mind) in case of "impulse purchase" or "low brand loyalty".

Please refer to the general guidelines below for increasing reach or frequency.

I agree shows don't run with sentiments of viewers or bcz actors are good or anything it depends on reach, particular set of audience watching a type of shows in that channel & also how smart they market the show. everything don't happen in a day so let's wait before u decide it is good for drashti or not. Now colors channel usually show typical traditional sas bahu shows with social messages , Now channel which is experimenting with blend of shows concentrating On other type of shows like chhal ,madhubala & na bole type light hearted shows which does take time to accept by the viewers of that channel. It is definitely a needed step which colors have dared to do to change viewers minset so chiill & enjoy the show.If it is not doing good Colors definitely have plan B to make it a success. Reviews say IT's a good show but needs lilttle bit of smart marketing. Actually TVR is important than TRP bcz TVR is how many people are watching it & it is fine with madhubala TVR is 2.32 for latest 22nd week & PV is 2.43 so not much difference. Trp includes maketing etc which is benificial for channel & production house. My humble request to you is not to compare shows trp here.

you know what? Hi :)
and firstly, I'm open to discussions, honestly I'm a DD fan and I loved the show till RK entered.
I feel the show overall was a good offer for Drashti but its not something that would cater to the mass in terms of popularity. The pairing doesn't work for me, i'd love to see someone like Karan Wahi/Tacker in the role of RK as a superstar. Vivian is a great guy but he falls short in terms of acting.

I think they need to cut down on the drama part too and Drashti's styling need improvement asap. Its definitely NOT a flop show but it just needs improvement and I'm sure it'll come around slowly
