The clutters and bangings of knives, forks, spoons against plates ring in my ears. All the voices; one trying to be heard over another. The buzzing happiness in the atmosphere. A genuine place to not only catch up with others but also to meet new people. To socialize. People were everywhere. Every inch of the floor was taken. I push past them to try and catch up with my cousins and soon a path forms for me. Their attention diverted to me as I step onto the stage. The stares, whispers, comments and complements. Then their stares move on to the bride herself.

I help her on to the stage and guide her to her designated seat. Cameras flash as people look at the bride with awe. Then all the cousins position themselves around her. We were all wearing the same uniform of heavily decorated golden saris with similar hair styles. It was nearly impossible to tell us apart from each other. The cameras keep flashing until a guardian calls us away. Giving the bride some words of confidence we walk off the stage, one by one. All eyes following us until the bride's family go on to stage.

We pass many people, having small polite talk. Some we knew, others we didn't. Soon we stop at an empty table, and take a seat.

"It's so busy here!" I comment.

"I know right! I wonder when we're going to get our food, I'm starving," Nandini says.

"You're always starving!" Priya exclaims. We all laugh at her outbreak.

"I've never seen Priya annoyed," I say.

"Same here, priya's always so quiet," Nupur says. Priya then quietens down and doesn't say anything.

"I don't blame her. Anyone would get annoyed by Nandini," Aahana says.

"but guys, I am actually quite hungry," Nandini innocently says.

"We don't care!" Priya says again. We all start to laugh once again.

"Guys, when do you think this will end?" Aahana says.

"We just came here Aahana," Nupur says.

"But I wanted to go back home," Aahana protests.

"Guys, quit it with the moaning. Let's just enjoy ourselves," I tell them. Then somewhere from the crowds of people I hear someone whistle loudly. We all look to where the sound came from and then we see a group of guys in suits laughing.

"jerks," Nupur says.

"Guys that one over there is pretty cute'" Aahana says.

"Which one?" Nandini asks.

"The one over there, next tto the really tall one," Aahana tells us.

"He is pretty cute'" Nupur says.

"Nupur, you just called them jerks though," I say confused.

"Yes but time changes and so do people," She tells me.

"But it hasn't even been a minute yet," I tell her and she shrugs it off.

"Madhu, that guy over there is looking at you," Priya says.

"Where?" I ask, trying to see who she was talking about. She then points in a direction and I follow to her finger to the direction which she was talking about. She was right, someone was looking at me. We hold this distant eye lock for some time until Priya coughs.

"Did you see him?" She asks.

"Yeah I did," I say. Then I look back and he wasn't there anymore. Strange.

"He was cute too," Nupur says to the others. "The one that's laughing right now."

"But I thought that you loved Shahid Kapoor," Nandini says to her.

"No, it was Akshay Kumar," Aahana says.

"Actually guys' it was Ranbir kapoor," Nupur corrects them.

"What happened to him then?" Nandini questions her, lifting up an eyebrow.

"Well even though he's already propsed to me, I still can check out other guys too you know," Nupur says winking.

"In your dreams," Aahana says.

"You know guys, I really want to marry food," Nandini says.

"Ermm' Nandini I think you've gone a bit crazy," I say to her.

"Well at least my favourite animal isn't a cloud'" Nandini says.

"You know that was a joke. I knew you were asking me questions because my birthday was coming up," I tell her.

"Yeah, but you did get a bit obsessed with clouds after that," Aahana says.

"Yes, a bit'" Nupur agrees.

"Okay, maybe I did get a bit obsessed," I admit.

"See told ya!" Nandini says.

"Whatever," I say and decide to not talk for a while. Every now and then I keep looking back for the guy who was looking at me. But each time I look he wasn't there.

"Guys, I'm just going to go to the toilets," I say, excusing myself.

"I'll come with you too," Priya says. We both then head towards the toilets. I feel like I'm being followed so I start talking to Priya.

"How you liking the wedding so far?" I ask her.

"Yeah it's okay I guess," Priya quietly says. Then someone brush pasts me, and I turn around to look at who it was. All I see is the back of a guy wearing a black suit, and I hear the gang of boys laughing again.

"Come on. Let's go back," I say.

"But I thought you needed the loo," Priya says.

"I don't need it anymore," I tell her and we head back to the table.

"That was quick," Nupur says.

"We didn't go," Priya tells her.

"How comes?" Nandini asks. Then the food comes along, and Nandini starts to serve everyone.

"She's really desperate to eat," Aahana says laughing. We then spend a minute just watching Nandini eat. She gets annoyed and looks at us.

"What?" She exclaims, and we all burst out laughing.

"Just make sure you have room for the main course," I tell her.

"But I'm already nearly full'" She says.

"Tut tut tut, your just gonna have to exercise over there. Maybe run a couple of rounds," Aahana says.

"Shut up, I'm not gonna do that. Especially in a sari!" She exclaims.

"Okay okay, she was only joking. Carry on eating everyone," Nupur tells us.

I step outside and breathe in the cold air. There were loads of people mingling around everywhere. Noticing my younger sister standing near our car, I go up to her.

"Hey, did you have fun?" I ask her.

"Yup, I get money off jiju sa," She tells me.

"You what?" I say laughing.

"Yup, and now I can buy that Barbie doll I really wanted," She tells me.

"Of course you can," I say smiling. Then maa and papa come towards us smiling.

"Let's go, we have to get back to aunty's house," Dad says.

"Haan, and there's a happy news that I want to share with everyone too," Maa says.

"What is it maa?" I ask. She strokes my cheeks and smiles.

"You'll find out later. Let's go now," She tells me. I nod, and everyone gets into the car. Papa starts driving and everyone starts talking about the wedding. I ignore them and look outside of the window. Going into a world of my own. We pass loads of buildings and trees. Cars and vans. People and lorries.

I then see a car, and the driver was someone wearing a black suit. Could he have also been from the wedding? This was really strange; it seemed that where ever I looked that guy I saw earlier was there. I close my eyes, and open them again. He was gone.

I then decide to text Nupur and tell her about everything but then I realised that my phone was missing. I keep looking over and over again in my purse but it wasn't there.

"Papa'" I start off knowing that he'd get angry.

"Kya Madhu?" He asks me, smiling.

"Papa, I kind of left my phone at the wedding center'" I stagger.

"And you want me to turn around so then you can go and get it..." He sighs. "Okay then."

"Thank you papa!" I exclaim. I then stare out of the window smiling. Hearing a high pitched scream, I turn to look at the front of the car. Then I see it, the lorry driving in full speed. "PAPA! PAPA!" I scream. But it was too late. I close my eyes as the lorry crashes into the car and then everything blacks out.

"Madhubala!" Someone says, shaking me. "Madhubala! Wake up!"

I open my eyes a little and white light floods in, blinding me. Pain shoots into my body, and I close my eyes to try and get rid of the aches. I clench my teeth, trying to stay strong. But the pain got the better of me and I painfully moan.

"Madhubala, don't worry I'll save you," The person says. I open my eyes and see a man holding a bottle of red liquid.

"Who-who are you?" I ask him. I try to get up but a trail of blood flows down my cheeks from my forehead. He then pushes me down to the floor.

"Just stay lying down or you'll bleed even more. Here drink this," he says, and puts the bottle top onto my dry lips. I think thirstily and then I black out again.
