I will give u another example of this kind:
In Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani(season 1), Pia was "dating" Kabir and the two were shown sometimes in such a way that it seemed that Pia would fall in love wid him which DIDN'T happen...
Same thing in Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani season 2, there was a scene in which Jeh and Pia nearly kissed...the scene was just to create havoc, hype and attract viewers!!
The story was always of Abhay-Pia, not Abhay wid the other girls or Pia wid the other guys but CVs only did that to create hype!!
Same way, Madhubala- Ek Ishq Ek Junoon is ONLY about Madhubala and RK but they are showing Madhubala thinking about Mukund only to attract viewers' attention!! So watch the show without worrying coz MEIEJ is ONLY about RK-Madhubala!!

CVs are doing their job fantastically.i think it is we, the star one viewers have problem because we have to see trip & fall, missing kisses etc. etc. (for fun onlya)
