I really would have waited a few days before analysing this drama and coming to the following conclusion but my, my I just couldn't wait after spending one hour watching this show to get what I got.
Trends followed in Indian cinema are being imitated on small screen, trying to allure people with old tested things. Safest thing to do - involves no risk and ensures you TRP's, money and what all. The big budget films try to pull audience with it's glamorous appeal, item songs, cheap publicity, highly paid actors. What you have to sacrifice is that you are NOT allowed to use your BRAIN in these BIG-budget films. Why? As, they don't have any different storyline. Nuisance is all you can expect from such films. NOW, now my friends don't jump on me saying so and so movie was made on a high scale but did have a plot...Exceptions are always there.
Madhubala has a good, powerful fan-following, seeing the forum already has 22 pages to it's credit (Such a waste of cyber space! ). All thanks to DD and VD's success of previous serials. Fans followed them here too.
After a few seconds the credits began zooming on the screen I ran to switch off the lights of my room, to have a feel of the 80's Hindi cinema. The only thing lacking was a packet of popcorn.Truly Amazing feeling!! Reminded me of Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! too :D
BUT only a few minutes passed and I had to switch on the lights...seeing CUT/COPY/PASTE technique being followed to it's T.
A rich zamindar, always a laadla of his widow mother following all her orders, obeying her like a pet obeys his master. A poor girl brought to this family as the wife of the pet...oops! the zamindar. She's a docile girl who can never raise her voice against the mother-in-law. The wife has a weakness which the man knows how to be exploited...here it's her unborn child and the small girl from the man's first marriage.
Don't forget the guy always carries a pistol in his hand and knows how to raise his voice...please give him some VICKS! as zamindar ji really needs it.
Not a single line had voice-clarity. He was too loud for the ears. Drama demands you to be loud and CLEAR. What is the purpose of being loud if the dialogue is not heard by the audience? A shooting scene set in the middle of a jungle with zamindar's fake chamcha's standing around him and agreeing to every word uttered by this mindless fool. Gabbar, where art thou? Sambha tell these chamcha's how to do 'ji hazoori'.
The scene that touched me was the fear portrayed by the young girl(Trishku) when the apple was shot. Brilliant acting. Good going kiddo. You delivered the message of this scene. What ways of entertainment were created in the patriarchal socities. Shame on these people.
For entertainment the zamindar re-launched Khalnayak in 1991 and asked it's actual launch to be shown as 1993 on Wikipedia. 😆
Oh! Where was I...yes, zamindar always has a pistol. Kaisa kutta oh ho! zamindar hai jo apne ghar mein hi sher nahi hai? Itna darpok. Poor chap.
The zamindar has a pregnant wife who has to bring a male child into this world otherwise she'll be shot dead. How can we forget that the widowed mother always follows some baba who can see into the future and tell what will happen. The baba gave the audience the clue that a girl is gonna born who will be the cause of the zamindar's downfall and the daima (a nurse in olden times) confirmed it. To protect the unborn girl child the mother becomes aware of her being and runs from the haveli. No gifts for guessing that she reached Mumbai along with the young girl.
This is where the actual story is going to begin.
Just so that the story begins from here, we were treated one hour to the CUT/COPY/PASTE technique. Uff!! The episode picked it's pace during the last 20 minutes. That's what I really liked.
The daima was the scene stealer. Superb!! She brought tears to my eyes when she helped the woman in escaping from the haveli and provided her with some money. When daima blessed the girls at the gates of haveli, I was having goose-bumps. One could feel this scene.
Is this gonna be a melodramatic drama, full of revenge and showing who's the powerful one? A tear-jerker? 😭
OR
Is this going to be something what the audience has never seen on the small screen? Is it Raising some questions? ❓
It's for the times to tell.
Destiny is surely playing a strong role in the lives of these people. The future cannot be changed mortals. We can try and make it better but what is written is written.
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts. . .
May the efforts of the Cast & Crew bring them laurels and they are able to show us something NEW.
Thanks for patiently being with me throughout this post.
Toodles!
