Yeah, that is what I thought too, because I am a Sikh too. Maybe they follow both Sikh and Hindu traditions, but most Sikhs don't do that in reality. So you don't have it wrong, it's just that the two families follow both traditions, I think.

Yes, they are two Sikh families, and I found it kind of odd that they were following Hindu traditions, too. I am a Sikh, and we only follow Sikh traditions, nothing else, but I guess because it is only a television show that is why they show both families following both Sikh and Hindu traditions. So you are not wrong.

i think u all have it wrong im a sikh and we dont follow hindu customs but on tv they arent allowd to show a actual punjabi wedding in a gurdwara becuz the sikh temples and ppl dont allow it they dont let ppl do that but now they like i guess sorta let u in the temple but dont let them tape the holy book becuz wenevr in maayka they dd go to a gurdwara they show in a angle that they cant c the holy book. thats y every punjabi family shown on tv is always taking saat phere and not the phere in a gurdwara..tv punjabi families r shown to b punjabi but do everything hindu custom

i had a sikh (sardaar) friend, they were real sikhs and believed very strongly in sikh culture...like wearing kada and combing hair with a special comb plus many more things that i can't mention here...mainly they never cut their hair whether its male or female......

in maayka nobody has the sikh pagdi...so i think they are not a typical sikh family....they are more like a punjabi family...

also, apart from performing marriage in gurudwara, i think they celebrate all hindu festivals the same way as hindus do...correct me please, if i am wrong...

Urmmm...Mahi and Soni are Sikh but I dont think Shabd and Sareen family is as if anyone remebrs Shabds once goes to angad - I found a punjabi kuri like Mahi!
And if Sareen family isnt Sikh so I dont think the Khanruna family is as Durga ius Shabds mum sister !
