All of you, thanks a lot for reading, liking and commenting. All your lovely comments made my day, so, once again, thanks a lot!!! I'm really sorry that I can't reply to you guys individually, but I'm sorta pressed for time. But to make up for it, here's the next part. It's slightly longer than usual - nearly 1070 words! Hope you all like it...
Part 5
Two hours had passed. It was now long past midnight and Prithvi had still not returned.
Damini tried to call him. His phone was switched off. She got off the bed and began
pacing the bedroom. What could be the matter? Had something gone wrong? Had maa
worsened? Panicking, Damini decided to call Prithvi again. Just as she was dialing his
number, he entered the room. She rushed towards him, noticing that he seemed pale and
shaken. "Kya baat hai Prithvi? Sab theek toh hai na?" He looked at her as if just
realising she was in the same room "Haan, everything is fine..." his voice trailed off
as she laid her hand on his arm. He stared at her hand and back at her, not saying
anything at all. Slowly he removed her hand and moved away, walking to the bed and lying
down, still shaken and silent. Damini stood, simply looking at him, fear coiling in the
pit of her stomach. Something terrible must have happened. She'd never seen him like
this... She sat down next to him on the bed, and softly touched his face. His eyes
opened and she saw dread in his eyes. "Prithvi, please tell me what is wrong..." she
said again. Instead of answering her question, he took her hand into his, kissed it and
pulled her to lie next to him. "Don't leave me" he whispered, sounding so vulnerable
that her heart nearly broke. "Never" she told him, cradling his head in her hands. He
finally relaxed then and closed his eyes. Damini kissed his forehead softly and fell
asleep, not letting go of him even in her sleep.

"You took your time getting here, my friend. But I don't really blame you. With a wife
like Damini, it must be hard to leave..." Prithvi's eyes opened suddenly as he
remembered what Inder had said. He got off the bed, carefully detaching himself from a
still-sleeping Damini and moved to stand by the window. Fury coursed through him as he
recollected the other man's insinuating smirk. He'd felt like killing Inder then, for
daring to utter Damini's name... It had taken a lot of effort to stay calm, but he had,
not wanting to give Inder the satisfaction of having got to him. "My wife is not up for
discussion, Inder. If you have nothing else to say, I'm leaving" he'd said, through
clenched teeth. Inder had simply smirked "Patience is a virtue, my man. I was merely
saying you have a very beautiful wife" the scum had said again. "Cut out the nonsense
and tell me why you called me here" Prithvi snarled. Inder had immediately turned
serious "Not much of a conversationalist, eh? Have it your way... I want money. 100
crores, to be precise. And I want it next week" he'd said. Prithvi couldn't believe his
ears. 100 crores? Next week? "That's impossible!" he thought and said as much. "That is
your problem, Prithvi ji. If it is impossible, make it possible. Or else..." Prithvi
grew angry again "If you think your bad impersonation of a filmy villain is going to
intimidate me, you've got another thing coming, Inder" he'd said, smirking in an attempt
to hide his frustration. "Oh? You're not scared? How brave! Let me tell you something
that should worry you then, at the very least. If I don't get my money next week, I'm
going straight to Damini and telling her everything there is to know about you... I've
known Damini for much longer than you have, and trust me, when she finds out, she will
make it her personal mission to take you down..."
Prithvi's expression must have faltered at that, because Inder began smiling broadly
"See? I knew that would worry you. Both of us know what Damini is like when something
threatens her family. She will go to any lengths to keep them safe. And she won't shy
away from playing dirty. Do you really want to risk your family for a paltry 100
crores?" Inder had said with a smug expression, misconstruing Prithvi's guilt as fear.
Prithvi had not been able to say anything. What could he say? He knew Damini would be
furious. He knew she would break. He knew he would never be able to be with her again.
He knew he'd lose her... for good. Inder might have known Damini longer, but he knew her
better. She wouldn't hurt his family, not for anything. She was too noble and
kind-hearted to even think of dealing such a low blow. But she would definitely hate him
and he fully deserved it. He just didn't know how he'd live with her hate...
Prithvi sighed as he watched Damini sleep. What had his life come to? Why did he have to
deal with such a messy situation? He loved Damini so much, but had to make her hate him.
He wanted to always shield her from pain, yet the pain he'd give her would be
unfathomable. He ached to hold her tight, but he had to let her go... Unable to look at
her, Prithvi turned away and gazed out of the window, trying to control his feelings.
This wouldn't do... He had a purpose - his revenge - and nothing could deter him from
that. He couldn't afford to weaken like this. He had to keep his wits about him and take
care of his mother and brothers. Soon everything would be over and they would be able to
leave this cursed city and all its complications...
*************
Lost in thought, Prithvi didn't notice Damini stirring. She drowsily felt for him on the
bed, eyes shooting open when she realised he wasn't there. She sat up quickly, and
calmed down when she saw him by the window. He was facing away, but she could tell he
was still worried by his tense posture. She went to him and laid a tentative hand on his
shoulder. He jumped a little, but didn't turn. She slid her arms around him, resting her
head against his back. Questions were swirling through her head, but she couldn't decide
what to say. Would she seem too pushy? All she wanted to do was help... Pushing all
thoughts away, she whispered "I love you", moving closer to him. She heard his breath
hitch for a moment, and then he replied "I love you too..."
