Why is it ok for situations such as these to be shown on other "non-fictional" shows and not on other shows? LAT is only a week old, so I think we shouldn't be too quick to judge. The only thing that I am hoping is they handle such delicate situations well and do not make a joke out of it.
Also, I have watched bits and parts of the original Spanish show and I am really interested in seeing how closely they follow it (seems pretty exact thus far) but yes, this is a bold show, something different from the usual rona-dhona shows that being shown so do not expect it to be what you are used to watching.

i actually agree with tm
the question is not that they are showing things which exist in society but the question is media makes such thing as common thing somewhere
in earlier times there were no kissing scenes in movies tv
but since many years this trend started in our culture in the name of globalization but then its really not our culture
already the people either victims or culprits are unfortunately becoming a part of such things
but many people who do not know about such thing like early teenagers and others might feel its ok to have relations with your cousin ,some people may have feelings for their distant cousins but tey hide it as its not accepted in society but if media provokes it then they have their way out
i am not saying that those feelings or people are wrong but if such thing is accepted commonly in our society then crime rate might go up, the relationships which a couple share has some rules before marriage because they do not belong to same family but if such thing starts happening then cousin cum couple may not have any boundries due to which our society may face problems
there is a saying -ignorance is a bliss and on the name of awareness sometimes some people may get aware but some people may look such thing as an opportunity as "sab karte hai,to hum kare to kya farak padega its shown in tv so its not unusual or uncommon"
just my point of view
counter attack with decent language is accepted for giving me reply😊

^they are trying to tell a story, if we think by ur way, even the cleanest tv show on TV has vulgarism, i don't want to take names otherwise a battle field would start here. bt thts a bitter fact and ppl enjoy such things. its a matter of perception.
the recently concluded 'Paanch' had everything - sex, drugs, mms, and all dark things but the fact was tht it was appreciated throughout becoz the makers didn't try to glorify a thing. they showed the reality and its a foolish belief tht one becomes or inspires to become a criminal due to TV. no ! this is a stone age belief and its high time we should come out of it.

I would object if i really see something that promotes or glorifies the wrong there is nothing wrong in telling a story because its fictionized

Actually u only got the intent of my post correctly. Earlier we could watch movies with the family now the films are nothing but soft po*n and justification for such thing is that it is realistic, and audience demand it.We cannot enjoy them with our families. TV shows are the only thing which a family watches together. If such shows are lapped up by audience then almost every show will have such scandalous things as its plot. Sexual relationship between cousins is termed as incest in our society. In foreign lands it may be practised and sanctioned by the society. If it happens in some high profile families then they have to be condemned for such morally depraved acts.
The extent of imagination is infinite. Today it is incest between cousins, uncle - niece; tomorrow we will see brother sister, parent child incest translated on screen and that too in a prime time slot.

I agree that its naive and foolish to make the assumption that the general public are going to accept things as presented in tv shows and films as a thumbs up to go on and do it themselves- granted the youth are easily impressionable, take any example from your bollywood films where adolescents obsess about following fashion trends of their fave celebs etc. However you would think that the average person would know to be objective and not take everything at face value ie word for word, id like to think that the public are capable of reflection and looking at things from a critical viewpoint. Its as if by representing such things tv shows are advocating the very things they present to viewers rather than being self-reflexive about them., Shows like these permit a space to examine our 'modern' age n chaotic society, its hypocrisies which are a fact of life and something you cant brush off by sticking a label on it
and if you are looking for a family show, why are you wasting your time watching this show? this show is blatantly not placed for for kids and family tv watching people.
as far as your issue is with incest, thats a concrete thing that exists today, in some cultures it is considered to be acceptable and in others condemned, the notion of incest is shown here to be a feeling of mutual attraction between cousins who have no sense of its taboo on society, the fact that these people are teens furthers the sense of their reckless attitudes, unconcerned about the consequences on established orders of society that forbids it.
do you seriously believe that a viewer watching the show is going to get on board with such a serious issue as incest just because the tv show has shown it, how thick can a viewer be in that sense?

It's on at 10 pm I would consider that as late enough, I guess India doesn't have watershed regulations where a certain time for adult natured programmes is in place, I wouldn't consider big boss as family entertainment but that was shown at 9 pm. The content of the show is quite mild with hints of what occurred, had it been a western version it would have done more than hint and possibly showed more action as UK watershed is after 9 pm and that is when programmes have more adult/violent content. Not everything on tv is going to be family viewing and it's parental responsibility that needs to taken up here to decide what you watch as a family and what you don't. I remember a time when bollywood movies had a rape scene in them, kids still watched them, I found that worse and now you have kids dancing to disgusting movie song lyrics which has obviously got adult content. Even saas bahu shows show dangerous irresponsible things so I don't know how people let their kids view it under the notion it's family entertainment.

yup saas bahu shows carry much vulgairy in every episode either the woman gets pregnant or she suffers a miscariage. kids want to know what is being pregnant becoz they also follow the show. now cosummation scenes have become so common, even the most cleanest characters wants to have open sex. and it doesn't matter how authentically they r shot. they are not good for family audience. did we forget Ram and Sakshi's kiss ... tht was beyond disgust. not at the idea of kissing but the way it waS handled. the debate is not worth it. i m sorry. a coin has two sides. clap doesnt happen from one hand either. just take it as a show and move on

Cousins do marry in some cases and I have seen these things. In one case, I was asked to intervene and prevent such marriage saying that it will give birth to defective kids. But the couple were so determined and now they have got a very healthy kid.
