LTL Written Update

Episode ~44

25th February 2010

Engagement

The episode starts from the point when Supriya 's mother urges her daughter to perform the ring ceremony. She delays, and all eyes fall upon her. Dutta stands beside her his eyes lowered but giving sided looks to assess the situation. I suspect the delay in the ring ceremony from the girl is possibly taken as her bashfulness.. her mother encourages her to take the ring, her fingers go towards it in the ring box but she moves them away .. and fed away turns to look at Kala.. who just watches. The relatives , including Dutta, seem annoyed. After some reservation she takes the ring.. and unwillingly turns to face Dutta who stands before her too.. he raises his left palm ready for the ring..and Supriya while everyone watches, pulls a miserable face. Dutta continues to hold his palm before her. With further delay, finally she gingerly holds his hand from underneath and slips the ring on his wedding finger. A round of applause follows from every one. Dutta turns behind him and holds Supriya 's ring given to him by Aye , in his fingertips. He turns towards her and holds his right palm opened waiting for her to put her hand in it .Supriya crosses both her hands before her, moves them, but still continues to cross them ..Kala looks on intrigued. People at large watch Supriya's reluctance to accept Dutta's ring. Supriya's mother encourages her daughter to put her hand forward. After looking at Ravi's face , she eventually puts her palm in Dutta's , who with lowered eyes, slips on the ring on her finger.. once done , she almost pulls her hand from him.. Kala smiles and everybody claps.

The couple turn to face the applauding crowd.While Dutta smiles, Supriya with a visible frown attempts to twist the ring off her finger.. Kala looks at her action with interest.

Dutta bows and receives his Aye's blessings as she hugs him. Supriya stands still , twisting her engagement ring. Dutta walks past her and seeks her mother's blessings. While she stands on the stage , Dutta goes down and seeks her father's blessings too. He continues to accept congratulations from Baji, Kishore, Sudarshan ..

Dutta 's sisters watch Supriya standing on the stage. She looks queasy and Leela goes up to her, and asks, you alright. Supriya looks ill . Ravi comes to the stage and hands her a glass of water. Leela turns to him sharply, what is it?, he replies. It's water for Supriya .Leela grabs the glass from him and tells him off, how dare you call vahini by her name? call her madam got it! and mind you! she's Dutta Bhau's would be wife, and don't forget you are a servant so stay that way! Supriya and her mother look weary by Leela's words . While Ravi wears a scowl on his face, feels very snubbed..

Dutta goes over and kisses Roops, Sudarshan offers his congrats, and so does Ganpat. Baji moves over to Dutta, one minute Bhau ! and turns his neck and yells for Ravi , ay! come over here! Ravi moves away from the stage and Supriya holds her breath as she watches where Ravi heads for. Dutta looks at the man with narrowed eyes.. as Ravi stands beside Baji , facing Dutta Bhau . Baji turns to Dutta , Bhau he's the one! Supriya vahini's new body guard. Supriya looks on apprehensively, while Kala watches with narrowed eyes. Ravi extends his hand and says, congratulations Bhau .. and Dutta nods and takes his hand in a strong grasp. Dutta says , from today you are responsible for the security of my would be wife. Ravi says , yes Bhau. Dutta carries on giving instructions which Supriya cannot hear, and Ravi after hearing them turns to look at Supriya , who starts to appear breathless , and Ravi turns his body towards her ..she touches the side of her head and looks at him queasily... and she begins to collapse backwards! but Ravi dashes to her rescue and Dutta turns his head towards the stage. Ravi saves her from falling back wards in his arms, both Aye Sahib and Supriya's mother look shocked. Shinde looks on, stunned, Baji took looks shocked.. but Kala watches with keen interest. Naku, Babi, Ganpat, Sudarshan , Kishore are gobsmacked and open mouthed. Dutta turns his neck , and gives his would be wife a silent narrowed eyed glance..as he also notices the new body guard leaning over and peering into his would be wife's passed out face..

Kala looked perplexed.. Sudarshan whispers, she has turned pale, I wonder it's not.. Roops urges him, what? bil! He raises his eyebrows and shakes his head, no nothing! Kala stares on.. as Ravi scoops Supriya in his arms and looks at Dutta , who has an equally perplexed expression on his firm face. Dutta looks at Ravi's face and then Supriya's fainted face.

Aye assures Supriya 's mother, don't worry everything will be fine..Jagdammba!

Kala signals and then Dutta's family entourage follows Ravi who carries Supriya in his arms... Dutta too joins the mini procession[me chuckling] at the back with his mother..

Guest Room

Ravi lays Supriya gently on the bed and Baji , Aye and others from Bhau's family, cover her with a bed spread. Her mother climbs into the bed next to her. Baji pats Ravi's shoulder, well done! you'll stay! Supriya mother fusses by her daughter, as he father looks down at her worried. Her mother tries to revive her, as Dutta looks down at her with narrow hooded eyes.Dutta's sisters exchange glances with each other.. Aye shahib turns to Naku, go get some water and dilute some glucose in it as well. Naku nods, and goes. Aye Sahib, instructs Baji ! call the doctor. Ravi for some reason glares , and Baji taps his shoulder, come lets go.

Dutta and the rest of his family just watch in silence, at the foot of the Supriya's bed.

Outside the room, Baji instructs Ravi , you stay here and keep an eye, while I phone the doctor.Baji walks away, speaking on the phone, yes doctor ,it's vahini she's unwell!.. Ravi hears and he flares his nostrils as his eyes move towards the door to Supriya's room.

Inside Leela comments, what is wrong with vahini? she faints quite often, and she never looks happy.. Dutta listens carefully, and Sudarshan joins in.. you're right, do you think, maybe she doesn't really want to marry Bhau? .. Dutta takes on board what is being said.. after all these are his own family speculating..

Kala clears her throat, ahem! we have Bhau right here, only he can find out what's going on in the girls heart. He gives a sided look to his family standing behind him, and then raises his eyes and looks across at the unconscious Supriya with her mother moping her forehead. He flares his nostrils and moves away , unimpressed as his family look on..it was clear to them he was beginning to get annoyed.

Outside Baji accompanies the doctor , briefing him about vahini's condition...don't know what happened to vahini ?she was fine, then suddenly she felt dizzy and... Baji sees Dutta come out of the room with an angry face, he goes to the wall and is about to bang his palm in anger on it..but stops..and pats it instead.. Ravi notices it and Baji crosses him and stands beside his Bhau. Baji decides to leave Dutta and follows the doctor inside the room.

Aye invites the doctor, to examine Supriya ,.. as Dutta stands outside slowly banging his fists on the wall. Ravi stares at him with a scowl... then he decides to go into the room and stands beside Baji .

Dutta stays out side , Leela words , come back to him, don't know what happens to vahini .. never seems happy.. he turns away from the wall and paces restlessly in rage .maybe she doesn't want to marry Bhau!

Supriya sits up in bed as the doctor examines her thoroughly with a stethoscope. All look worried and wait for his medical opinion .He shakes his head, as her parents worry.. Naku returns with the glass of glucose. Supriya drinks the complete glass..

The doctor turns to face the family, and says, there's nothing to worry about, it's quite common for girls to suffer from pre- nuptial jitters and nervousness . He asks Supriya in front of everyone, is there something bothering you?.. Ravi looks towards the door. The doctor suggests, open the windows to allow fresh air to come in.

Dutta stands outside with a grim face.. Kala's words, now what's in the girls heart ,only Bhau can find out?..

Dutta turns his face decisively and walks into the room past Ravi near the door. Slowly he walks towards Supriya and stands at a slight distance from the foot of her bed. Supriya sits up in her bed, her glass held near her pulled up knees.

In a matter of fact tone, Dutta announces in a clear baritone voice. I need to speak with Supriya in private... all his family, know he means it. Supriya again starts to look petrified. Ravi glares, Baji folds his arm and feels the back of his head.. Aye Sahib nods approvingly and agrees. Dutta's family, Supriya 's family, the doctor, all leave as Dutta orders. Baji after some thought leaves too.. Ravi stands behind Dutta.

Aye Saab too moves to leave, but stops before Dutta and directs him ,Dutta, with love..ok.

Aye turns to look at Supriya mother, sitting by her daughter, and she to begins to get up and Supriya clings to her mother's hand, but she nods to say , you'll be fine and then leaves the room too.

Dutta waits patiently, and then in a cold voice , growls at Naku , you girl! you too leave!. Naku nods, looks at Supriya and leaves, as Dutta gives Naku a sided look to to check she's gone too from the room.

He turns his head, and orders Ravi , you go out too! Ravi looks at Supriya and glares at Dutta 's back but stays. Dutta turns his neck to the side , and without looking at Ravi , he says, icily .. I never repeat myself!

Ravi leaves the room and stands in the corridor outside the guest room door.

Dutta gives a sided glare to Ravi ... and then turns with a firm face to Supriya .She looks across to him worried and tearful. He gulps and then with hands held behind his back, he walks to the door and closes the door.

He turns to look at her from the door, and slowly moves towards the end of her bed. And then stops.. and looks at her with contracted serious eyes.. what are you scared of? the attack that place on you?.. she refuses to answer.. and he asks, then what is it?

Kala's Room

Kala settles on her sofa ,and sips wine with a smile. Leela who also sips wine asks her, what is it Tai ? why are you smiling? Kala replies, because now there will be no marriage.. Supriya , won't consent.. Roops says , but Tai Bhau will make her agree.. Bhau will win over her heart! Kala sneers, Bhau will win? and that too a girl's heart? Bhau ?.. she mocks. Leela says, why will he not win? Kala replies, because Supriya doesn't want it. Leela asks , really how do you know? has she told you something secretly ?.. Kala similes pensively , no! but Kalavati knows everything .. Leela retorts back, so Tai if you claim to know everything, then why are you so tense? .. the girl herself will refuse, and we won't have to do anything.. Kala listens and after thought , stands up and says, you two may not need to do anything ,but I need to do something, besides your brain boxes are vacant .. so how can you think.Leela defends , Tai ! don't consider yourself over clever ! beside who has the guts to decline the proposal sent by Aye Sahib and Bhau ?.. Kala reels around and glares at Leela , at least don't you dare to speak to your Tai Sahib like this again!.. and Kala glares at Leela .. episode ends. Hamlet 53~ 25.10.13

Precap: with a face twisted with rage Dutta yells, looking at your face I can clearly see that something is wrong!.. Supriya stammers noo it's nothing.. and she sobs.. Dutta turns his face to the side and sighs..

This episode is a carry forward of the previous one.. however the importance of an accepted token symbolic of a formal bond between man and woman..is brought out further in this section. The ring and the ritual of placing a ring on the chosen partner before witnesses is focused upon. The ring speaks of their bond..all the delay from her side shows her disapproval of this bond. The ceremony ends up in shambles.. a web of deceit, guile, lies is beginning to weave quickly .

Another interesting feature for me in the episode was Mishal's hands which are out of this world.. perfect.. slender and immaculate..my eyes just stayed on his hand...

N.B: thanks for reading the previous wu..sorry for the delay.. I was busy.. friday's I will put up tomorrow .. it's my favourite..so far.

Ohhh how did you watch the ring ceremony. .ummh I was getting a jittery feeling while reading why supriya ummh. ..

Supriya, s awkwardness was so evident she was disturbed throughout one can easily guess she is not happy ...imagine koi bride real life main aisa karay udhar hi aunties gossips start kar dain 😆 ...and the look on ravis face he is giving tough competition to suds lol..and hawww I read just now suds saying supriya fainted is she .?...what did he thought she is pregnant 😆

Ravi had the guts to lift duttas to be wife... I want to thank cvs though dutta didn't do the honours phewww

Loved nakus genuine concern here regarding supriyas health here she forgot who she will be in near future.

Gosh I love this scene where dutta spoke to supriya in Private the look on his face full jalal main tha...out class performance by mishal and supriya z timid look was spot on too...mishals boice modulation I just lovee it...his authoritative style is the best fit on him

Cant wait to read the continuation of this scene...post next episode soon...and enjoy watching the show too.

Kala's Room

The sisters continue to unwind and discuss the day's events in the privacy of their room. Roops in her immature way comments, hey! I love the stylish way vahini swoons, so cute isn't it?. Kala gives her daggers and walks up to her and says. Hey Roopvati! you excel in making a drink, make one for me please. Roops nods , like her humble subject , sure Tai . Kala gives Leela a fed up look, and returns to her seat. After some careful thought she says, keep an eye on every one.. keep your eyes and ears both open..

Guest room

Outside the guest room, Ravi eavesdrops against the door, pulls a distasteful face and then moves away from the door and stands in the corridor to resume his body guard duty.

Inside the room Supriya sits huddled in bed. Frightened and silent, she looks at her clasped hands.

Dutta stands before her at the foot of the bed, his hands held behind his back.He studies her face and in silence he awaits her answer. He turns his face the other way and explains, Supriya if you don't tell me, then how do you expect me to understand?. She sits tight lipped.. as she looks across at him. Dutta waits and looks with half open eyes at her face... turns his face looks up, rolls his eyes, sighs.. and slowly brings his face back to her.. and says, after two days it's our wedding.. not just us , but both our families will be tied together in a new bond...if there is something bothering you? anything? then this is the right time to talk about it.. He explains, patiently.

Outside Ravi paces like a jackal.. Dutta watches Supriya as her lips part. He waits as his eyes study her face closely.. and then growls in a sharp voice, it can be clearly seen on your face that there is something wrong!.. she denies it, and with a broken voice she assures, no it's nothing...

He hears, and in deep control, he digs his finger tips into the wooden sofa frame beside him to check his anger.. looks at her.. twists his mouth and takes a deep breath.. turns and says, if you tell me than I can think of a way out. Supriya looks up to him with new hope. ..it appears that she is ready speak more.

Outside Ravi paces restlessly...

Outhouse

Babi sits deep in thought on the floor beside the low table. The table has a platter of the special selection of engagement food.Ganpat and Sethji face each other with the platter between them... ready to tuck in. Babi says, pity the engagement ceremony was incomplete. Ganpat teases, ey why you getting upset? like it's our engagement that ended up improperly. Babi tells him to shut up! and he chuckles as he continues to chomp his food. Sethji turns to catch a sided glance at Naku sitting afar, and says.. babaa if this is the kind of food given at the engagement .. think what it's going to be like at the wedding. Naku turns to listen. Ganpat, chews ,yeah Sethji! non-veg , ladoos!.. go ahead, eat up! he encourages his son. Babi after some thought comes out with.. Ganpat I think there's something going on in that's girl's head.. Naku too considers this silently. Ganpat chips in and says flippantly, why do you stress?, Bhau is here, he'll deal with it!.Babi argues, it's not like that, our Bhau is a good man! so only positive things should happen to him!.. Babi turns to Naku , hey Naku! did you find out anything?. Naku nods her head, no.. Ganpat tries to explain, let me tell you! the thing is...

Guest Room

Dutta waits upon her with narrowed eyes. At last she speaks! erhh I .. and she raises her ring palm towards him then slowly closes her fingers, and begins to sob loudly.. her shoulders shake with her sobs as slowly she lowers her arm and shakes her head. Dutta grits his teeth, as he hears her sobs but controls himself. He looks at her crying, and then slowly comes to the other side of the settee and slowly sits down facing her. Moved by her sight , he joins his palms , feels his forehead , bows his head a bit and pleads, look ,please don't cry... have I ?or someone from my family said something to hurt you.?.Supriya sniffs and weeps as she shakes her head , no.. Dutta asks, Supriya at least say something what's upset you then? but she continues sobbing bitterly.

He feels himself about to snap he clenches his palm tightly!.. and then feels the bridge of his nose and says, I can't understand what I should do with people who cry! he bellows! and she cries hysterically! He glares at her and pulls his mouth right down to his chin in rage! Rises and stomps over to her beside and glares her with his piercing eyes! looks down at her, flares his nostrils , stomps back to the settee, stands with his back to her! as he listens to her continued sobbing! leans and picks up a cushion of the settee and hurls it in complete rage at the bedside lampshade near her! she screams and covers her ears as the lamp crashes and smashes the bulb on the floor!

With an angry scowl he looks across to her ready to kill her! turns as his arms swing and storms towards the door, opens it and passes by Ravi .. and storms down the corridor defiantly!

Ravi gives Dutta killing looks..once Dutta turns the corner, Ravi goes into the guest room...and closes the door as he looks at Supriya . He walks towards her as she holds her face. He looks at the crashed lampshade on the floor...

Outhouse

Ganpat continues, I think.. that this girl is definitely involved elsewhere!.Babi covers her mouth in shock! .. how do you know?. Ganpat says, crazy woman ! I know about the ways of the world! what would you know.. you see ! it's like a movie story, our Bhau, loves Supriya.. but.. does Supriya love Bhau ..?? , this is the problem! that's why Supriya cries all the time in her loneliness!.. Naku listens to her father and wonders.. Ganpat continues.. but who knows whom Supriya loves?.. may be someone who is a mightier man than Bhau ? Babi says may be .. but one thing is for certain that in this world she can't find a better man than Bhau ! .. Ganpat continues, Babi I am thinking, Malmal Morey and Bhau are similar .. Babi shocked says , what?. Ganpat continues, yes ! see if they like some girl! there's no way out for the girl but marriage...even her parents must be in fear too , like we were back then! what do you think? Babi I think these people are forcing this marriage on her! Babi says ,no! no! I don't believe it!. Naku speaks up too, no! Dutta Saheb is a good man, his love is true. Morey? Morey was a beast! animal! you blab any thing babaa! Ganpat carries on , it's one and the same, there Morey used to run after girls and then sell them! here the girls are crazy after Bhau !isnt that so Naku? Ganpat changes his tune regarding Bhau.. as he is aware of Naku's loyalty towards Bhau ..Naku gets up disturbed and says, I'll be back soon.. Babi yells, where are you going? Naku says, I have some important work, I'll be back shortly, but Babi stops her, no! noo.. eat your dinner! but Naku scampers off!.

Dutta's study

Naku walks out of the outhouse into the main house, Ganpat's words, the problem is that the girl has an affair with some one.. don't know whom Supriya loves?.. haunts her she stands and looks up towards Dutta's room and muses, Saab you will need to keep your hopes up, and trust yourself...I won't let you drown in despair. She musters up courage and comes up the wooden stairs to his study where Baji , talks to someone on the phone, I cant take the risk of approaching Bhau at the moment. He turns and sees Naku come up, hey Naku !, and tells the caller, I'll call you back. He turns to Naku , hey Naku! what do you want?, she says , I want to see Saab. Baji says, not now, he's in a bad mood ,so go away! Naku pulls a worried face, I have to talk to him about something important, I need to explain something about Supriya Tai .Baji stares at her and yells at her hey! I 'eve told you once ! cant you understand? besides what do you know about Bhau anyway ? he's good has a generous heart !doesn't mean you sit on his head! and bug him! go now ! go away!. Naku begs him, Baji I swear by Ganpati Bappa ! is really important... Saab saved my life, gave me respect! saved me from that beast Morey! did you know back in my basti , everyone made fun of me! it was only Saab who never said a word when he saw me... Baji hears but says,Naku you are right, and what ever you say is true also , but now is not the time to see Bhau, so go and sleep now, let the night pass.. go now and come tomorrow. Naku turns to look at Dutta's closed door..and is near to tears, but goes down the stairs sullenly.. stopping and looking back at his room..

She comes down and looks at Bappa's statue...then turns her head to look up to Dutta's room...and simply sits before Bappa 's statue and Dutta 's room overhead.. she rests her back against the indoor lamp post and spends all night there.. looking back and forth from Bappa to Dutta 's room...it was Naku 's worship before her deity for her Saab... she says in her heart, listen to me Saab before it gets to late.

Naku is woken up by the car door being slammed hard.. and then the screech of brakes!

She looks dazed and then she turns to look at his room door.. she runs to his room the door is wide open she rushes in! his bed is in a complete mess. She looks around and starts to hyperventilate...she panics.. where is he?? gives his tousled bed another look , cries helplessly, and hopelessly leaves his room..

Breakfast time

Following morning, Kishore, suds, Leela , Supriya 's mother Roops and Aye Sahib sit at the table. Aye Sahib starts with Jagdammba!,then turns to Supriya 's mother, where is Supriya ? she's hasn't come?. her mother replies, she's not well so she's lying down. Aye notices Baji and calls him, Baji where is Dutta ?. Baji replies, Aye sahib Bhau left early today , he's gone to Sawantwadi. Naku holding the tea tray listens on , while others at the table are surprised at his absence.. Aye wonders, why? he never told me, and he didn't take you along. Baji replies dryly, he said I am to stay behind and look after things here... Aye.. Bhau wanted to go on his own, says Baji. Naku looks worried. Aye gets cross, he might insist, but you should understand! besides so much is happening around him, how could you let him go alone? ring him! I wish to speak to him! ..Baji nods and says, Aye Sahib, his phone is switched off.. but you don't stress , when Bhau doesn't want anybody around him, then no one can persuade him.. no one can understand Bhau ..no one. slowly Baji looks at the kitchen partitioning screen and stares at Naku.. every one present at the table exchange glances... episode ends Hamlet53~ 27.10.13.

Precap: Naku , mouth taped, sits tied to a chair, in a warehouse .She looks drugged. Someone with black shoes walks in and stands before her, her eyes are shocked.

One interesting episode it was, but the one thing that sticks out like a sore thumb is the scene between Dutta and Supriya. The interruptions are appalling, all the more since it was a powerful scene between both the characters. Mishal as Dutta , was nothing short of par excellence. The expressions he gives between extreme levels of self control and final snap of rage is gripping. Supriya weeps, and he explodes! although he tries the understanding ready to listen strategy, but finds it works not.

It annoyed me to no end when the scene was stopped and we were transported else where. But I realized it was a directorial strategy to convey to viewers, firstly the waiting that Dutta has to go through to get her to talk about her fears.. which of course she never does not. Secondly it was to show the slow build up to Dutta's final rage syndrome for it to surface... caused by him having to wait for her to come clean with him..

The scene in the outhouse, reminds me of times when servants of a large mansion sit during their mealtimes discussing the affairs or incidents of their masters. Babi is quick to observe that something is bothering Supriya .. which Ganpat further adds to what might be the reason. Some have loyalties for their master's generosity, like Naku and Babi, while others like Ganpat say a bit to much... speculate.

Ganpat's comparison of Dutta with Morey is thought provoking, till he changes his tune.. but his final reference to the marriage being a forced one, does make one wonder...
