Part ~13
Baji folded his arm and stroked the back of his hair. A cheeky smile played on his lips, "Bhau ye kiya hoya tum ko? pani mein kya kar rahe the ap dono? aqua love!he doubled up. Dutta gave him a nasty look and sided his eyes towards Anay. Baji laughed ,"oh don't mind him he has a rough idea of how unpredictable you are, kisi time pe tum kuch bhi ker sakta hai!".
Dutta abruptly lowered Naku down and she tottered a bit till she found her feet and he put his soaked arm around her saturated shoulders as he steadied her. Slowly with one hand he arched his head forward and freed his broad neck from her pallu.. and she gathered it and tried to throw the heavy laden pallu over her shoulder.
He saw it dripped, and did the gallant thing, took off his waist coat and offered it to Naku who shyly accepted.But he was quick to note and discreetly he blinked his eyes, accompanied by a swift upward move of his eyesbrows that signalled to her that she needed to the close the buttons of his waist coat that she wore.The reasons were too obvious. She blushed and did them up double quick.
She palmed back a few loose wet tendrils of her hair. Dutta looked at Anay who cradled a furry friend, whose little black wet nose twitched. Dutta said, ey! where did you pick this fellow from?.Anay smiled innocently, and corrected, "nehin mamoo it's not a fellow, ye lady hai!" Dutta turned his head slowly and looked at her helplessly nodding his head. Anay held the rabbit towards Dutta, "here mamoo! want to hold her..Dutta stepped back.Clearly rejected the invitation and Baji teased, "ghod mein la le Bhao, bahut shant hai ye miss bunny.."he said with a wink. Dutta gave him a fatal glare, and with a slow shirk of his hands he confessed, "I don't think so, I'm not into furry friends". Naku moved her palms forward, "but I'm Anay! here let me hold her", and Naku gently caught on to the rabbit, and held it against her bosom stroking its fur gently smoothing it against its back.. Dutta sided his eyes and watched her shower affection towards the animal and his heart went out to her. Dutta cocked his head at Baji ,"dekh le sab se bara baacha ye Naku khud hai Baji!"
But Anay corrected, "no mammi is not baachi mamoo! she likes animals haina mammi? shall we take her home?".Dutta pulled his head back a little, "wait a minute Anay! you can't do that? ye jagah is it's home, it's used to living in the wild.."Dutta explained, but Anay disagreed, "noo! I want to take her home it's not fair?. Dutta looked at him severely," ey! is it fair that you separate this doe from her kits? think about it Anay?.Baji nodded too and explained ,"haan this area is known to have kindles of rabbits, she has kittens around too".Anay's face feel as he sadly looked at the bunny in Naku's arms.Dutta turned to Naku," put it down now, you've had your fun jane de ab isi.." Anay quickly reached out for it from Naku's arms and carried it back to where he had picked it up from.. he turned and looked back at Dutta who nodded, which meant yes let it go.. and to Dutta's delight Anay did.. very sensibly.
He looked down at Naku," looks like the boy is growing up fast", and Naku looked up into Dutta's contracted eyes and muttered," Saab, you are so mean, rabbit itna cute tha,! Dutta parted his lips and looked the other way and growled under his breath,"Anay has grown up, but you Naku have regressed... back to your child hood! Naku gently looped her arm in his pocketed arm and giggled. Baji, gave a dimpled smiled and shyly said,"kya Bhau? tum ghar ko bhi jaye ga ya edherich he khulum khula pyar kare ga tum dono?. Dutta gave him a look and growled, "tu chal phir saman load kar! and let's go home , Tai bhi itazar kere rehe hoge..

When they got home, Kala was on the phone to her mother,"nehin Aye Sahib , thek hai sub kuch yahan ,haan woh bhi thek hain dono.. Anay raced in and he saw his mother occupied on the phone. Also he made out that she was talking to nanoo.. he asked his mother,"mamma mujhe babaa se baat kerne hai, can I?. She said he could ,and he grabbed the phone,"babaa , I am having fun here! but pata hai babaa I fell in the river! and guess what! Naku mammi saved me , she knows how to swim, babaa I want to learn to swim also!..Kishore, at first was worried at his sons, near fatal misadventure.. but later assured his son,"haan Anay will send for swimming lessons when you return",.. and then asked for his mother!. Kala moved back her sided fringe with her hand and spoke to her husband.
Kishore was livid,"mujhe pata that you would not be able to handle him on your own..ho gaya na accident Kala! why can't you be careful.. heaven forbid! what would have happened if Naku hadn't turned up!". Kala thought it wise to confess to her folly and wind up the matter, for she knew that her husband was generally peace loving and refrained from stretching matters further to avoid further complications.She said,"haan Kishore, Naku was great, bahut khayal rekhte hai Anay ka ,he too listens to her.." she admitted and then they said good bye to each other.
Kala turned to her son and spread out her arms, "my baaaby! ahja mamma ke pas!. Anay raced into her arms and she held his face in her manicured hands, "here let me look at you!" and she kissed his forehead and then turned to Dutta who stood tall with one arm folded against his chest. He bowed his head,"yes Tai Anay was good.. tell your mother what you did", he turned to Anay, but much to his dismay ,Kala was already on her mobile to some friend. Dutta looked at Naku who was about to head for the kitchen. He looked at her with sided eyes ,"waise if I were you I'd head for our room, mujhe dry kapre de and you too change".There was no point in arguing, so she did take him up on his suggestion, in fact she gave him an order too ,"ap bhi chalo Saab.. and he went hummm and followed her.
He looked at her as she took out his turquoise kurta and white pyjama bottoms. She looked across to him and recommended, "you go in first Saab have a shower, I'll go in later... after you are finished".He moved towards and felt her finger tips and pulled her slowly towards him, his arm looped around her lower back his eyes peered into hers,"ek baat bata Naku, why can't we have a bath together? humm?".Naku moved back abruptly and he pulled her back to him, "answer me!"he demanded.
She looked up into his hooded narrowed eyes with her bold green doe eyes," mujhe nehi pata?"she said shyly and lowered her eyes and he lowered his forehead on hers and mumbled,"kam ke baat thujhe khabhi pata nehi hota! such a useless woman you are!" He dug his finger tips on her moist back, and she winced as he twitched his jaw and carried on his complain as he pressed his forehead harder on hers.. "Naku...there in the river we were together, then why not in here in our bathroom hmmm?.. Naku looked up at him and nearly giggled and he moved his head away from hers and held it up again as he glared at her, "now what have I said that is making you giggle?," and she replied,"Saab ap ke batien he itne funny hotien hain, I mean woh batien jinka mere pas koi jawab nah ho".Dutta rolled his eyes and looked the other way as he let his muscular arms drop from her soft back. She found her chance and gently pushed him off to the bathroom and she firmly instructed, "you'd better be five minutes in the shower, Saab", he stopped in his tracks as she pressurized his back with her warm palms , and twisted his arm to pull her from behind and repositioned her in the circle of his arms. His fingers titled her chin up and he peered into her eyes, "zarra mera samna khe ju mujhe kehna hai tune.."he tempted her, as he snuggled his face in her soft creamy neck. She bit her lower lip and gave him a spacious eyed look, "kehna ye hai go have a shower !please..! Saab", he growled," Naku tu jab bole ge faltu mein bole ge!".. he stopped again and looked at her ,"on second thought, Naku I'll go take a shower in Baji's bathroom, tu edhur shower kar le".Naku shook her head as he turned to leave.."Saab ruko! kapre tu la jein! .. he took the clothes from her and inclined over her head a bit,"aur kuch?.. she shook her head vigorously nehin!.. and she saw him leave..
Dutta barged into Baji's room where Baji happily played computer games with Anay.Their fingers pressed on the control pads. Hands and arms gripping, pressing and manoeuvring the pads, their upper bodies swaying and shouts of yes! no! ringing out.
Dutta bellowed, "ye kya ho raha hai? band karo us shor ko! Anay threw the controls down and made a beeline towards the door, as he dashed off. Baji folded his arm and ran his hand over his head..and slowly stood up.. "shant Bhau ,kya hoya?.Dutta folded his arms across his chest and replied calmly,"I need to have a shower in your bathroom, ummh so get out of your room I need space". Baji expanded his eyes, "bas itne se baat pe you created such a noise , aur tera bathroom mein kya lotcha hoya hai? pani nehi ah raha kiya? he sniggered. Dutta gave him a fiery look and retired to his bathroom.. Baji looked at his game tempted to restart again, but abandoned the idea as Bhau had said he wanted the room vacated...

Baji had no choice but to go out on the veranda. Ahead in near the flower beds, he saw Naku, now changed in a sari, plucking flowers which she laid in a basket. Baji walked across the lush green lawn and joined her, "woh Bhau ko kya hoya? he came over to my bathroom to get ready, no problem between you two I hope?. Naku giggled,"no problem Baji, it's just that he wanted me to have a wash first, tu isliye" she said going slightly crimson. Baji, read between the lines and slapped the back of his head, "no Naku! please don't tell me any more ! he guffawed. Baji! he heard his name .Dutta stood on the veranda, dressed in his white pyjamas and lemon kurta, oyee Baji come here! he called out in his powerful voice. He saw Naku looking at him.. he looked at her from far, dressed in her fushia pink sari, her mid parted loosely plaited hair hung from the side of her neck.. her short fringe framed her beautiful fine featured face.. from far she too caught the stare of his narrowed eyes.
She planned to linger about, that he could judge from far. Dutta thought ab yeh tu nehin aye ge, so I'll go to her instead. He turns to Baji ,"don't vanish kuch baat kerne hi tera se".With that he walked slowly towards Naku. Once beside her he looked down at her with hooded eyes and said,"why aren't you coming indoors? and what are these flowers for ?. She looked up into his eyes ,"yeh phool puja ke liye hain."Dutta bowed his head, "right abhi let me do my puja.. and he picked a red rose from her basket and gently bent the stalk and twisted it off, stood behind her back and pushed the shortened stalk at the side of her head, then turned her to face him and,"now this rose looks beautiful"..Naku looked into his eyes hypnotized by his gaze and they stood like so, dead to the world, till Anay came and hugged Naku's waist from behind!
The couple drifted apart, "mammi! mamma wants you, chalo na!. he called , and froze when Dutta gave him a look, "Anay, what does your mum want?". Anay looked up innocently at Dutta, and pulled his mouth down and Dutta , patted his mop of shiny blck hair and said ,"tu chal we're coming".. after he'd gone Dutta looked at Naku sideways, "ye Tai ko bhi pata nehi kya problem hai for every little thing she calls you, Naku you need to put your foot down a bit!..he fumed, but Naku held his arm and replied, "Saab ap bhi , itna over react kerto ho, it's ok I don't mind", and she turned to go and he pulled her arm and made her face him ,"you don't mind but I do! don't get to spend any time with you, wish Tai na ati tu aacha tha! he moaned and she reached for his hand and gently pulled him across the lawn. But he didn't take kindly to her action and shrugged his arm away and took long strides across the lawn deep in thought.. sighed and Naku followed him in.
Afternoon tea and snacks were ready, Naku, passed the tea and snacks around . Dutta sat on the bulky leather sofas, watching the purpose of calling for Naku's assistance.. he almost glared at his sister. Baji could sense his Bhau was preoccupied, he raised his eye brow towards Dutta who clearly was churning things in his mind.
Dutta, eventually leaned forward and began,"Tai, have you noticed anything different about Anay?"..she looked at him, as he sat sensibly amongst adults.Kala, gave a scintillating smile,"haan Bhau, I have noticed he has a glow on his face..and she feel quiet.. obviously at a loss of words. Dutta pointed his joined palms forwards and took a deep breath, "yes Tai he has a glow, a healthy glow and that's because he was occupied, not just sitting in one spot .. he looked at Anay and patted the empty space next to him on the sofa, "come here Anay".The boy came and sat beside Dutta ,who caringly placed his arm around Anay's shoulder,"Tai have you not seen how calm he is? , not hyper.. he looked at Kala she was too busy looking at her nails. Dutta pulled his chin to one side and screwed his eyebrows only just and looked the other way.Then slowly he moved his face towards Anay and asked him, "tuna batya apne mamma ko what you did at the picnic."Anay raced up to her and said,"did you know I played with rabbits! , Baji took me to an area! wahan bahut se rabbits thein I even held one and so did Naku mammi.. I want my own rabbit mamma! and he raced back to Dutta , pata hai mamoo,babaa says I'll have swimming lessons when we go back"! said an excited Anay.
Baji, smiled and looked at Dutta,"Bhau thujhe nehi lagta that since Anay was good, maybe we should give him some more adventure?".Dutta nodded, humm, the thought crossed my mind too, the boy needs the outdoor life.. Baji took Anay's hands and pulled him up , "Anay shall we go camping?!.. Anay hugged Baji's legs and tried to pick him up and Baji pressed his palms on Anay's head, "oyee! Super boy! choor mujhe before I change my mind!. Yeah camping ! danced Anay clearly loving the idea. Dutta sided his eyes towards Naku slowly and raised an eye brow and she bit her lower lip and lowered her eyes..Dutta pulled his mouth to one side and stretched his arms on the back of the settee. Looked to him , his adventurous wife liked the idea... he felt pleased with Baji's idea, he needed more time with Naku.. but...
Kala as expected created the dissension, "are you mad Baji? suggesting that we all go camping now, itna dangerous hai"!she complained. Baji folded his arms , "Tai maine ap ko tu nehi bola, maine tu Anay ke liya bola". Dutta , raised his palm, yes it's a great idea Baji ,for Anay it's beneficial, he's a keen ,growing up boy, Tai he's come so far, it'll be a shame if he misses out on the experience..dekho Tai, if you feel uncomfortable, why don't you chill here, aram se raho.. you have the servants here, at your beck and call.Kala stared at her brother's face, servants! what do you mean,? Naku bhi tub hi pas hoge mere?.Dutta stood up and held his arms behind his back, "nehin Tai, Naku nehin hoge ap ka pas , because she is coming with me, Baji and Anay .. so really and truly you don't have to worry about Anay's welfare at all". But Kala , tried her luck , but how can you be so sure that Naku would like to accompany you men! have you asked her?."Dutta responded with a firm face,"I don't need to ask her Tai, she goes where I go! it's as simple as that! so its settled that we go camping around here. Baji, you make a list of things that we will need.. instructed Dutta. Anay shouted,"I know you need a tent! A big tent! and something to sleep on, and Baji yelled yeah! and something to cook on!.Dutta looked at Naku with a small smile,"tu bhi sit with them and make a list of what we need to get.. he looked at Baji ,check on the phone ,if there is a shop near by that sells camping equipment". Baji got onto his mobile straight away and yelled, "haan Bhau , there is a shop, not too far from here..
Anay went to his mother, ap bhi chalo na mamma". Dutta listened how she fobbed him off," beta , you know mamma's back hurts , so I won't be able to come, you don't want mamma to be in pain do you?". Anay shook his head , but soon after said ,"ok pack my clothes then.
Dutta looked at his Tai,"it's ok Tai we won't be gone for many days , only couple of days.."Kala nodded and then got up with a smile, and headed for her room, to pack her son's gear... inside she was glad she was not going ,because quite simply she was not into outdoor adventure... mind you Dutta too was not displeased..

Kala as per usual, interfered in the littlest of things, "no Anay you shouldn't go shopping, stay behind and help me pack". Dutta looked at her impatiently, "really Tai, do din ke liya jana hai, surely you can pick out a few things for him yourself, he needs to accompany us, so he can be involved in the process of buying, judge for himself what is needed and what is not". Baji agreed, "ho! Tai , ap chor diya karo Anay ko, he's not alone, adults hain us ke saath"!. Kala had no choice but to give in, in any case what she said, for the moment held no value, as she watched the rest of the family as they piled into the jeep. But grind she did, this Anay will be sorted by me when he gets back to Patil Nivas , jahan Aye bhi hogin to support her.

Naku put her arm around Anay's shoulder in the back seat of the jeep and he moved his head and pecked her cheek.."mammi I love you! you are fun to be with!".Dutta watched from the rear mirror and remarked, "yes she is fun to be with, only you make sure that you behave yourself, on the trip.. enjoying but also being safe is very important in any fun activity, you got that? pressed Dutta with a raised finger.
Baji, parked before the camping shop, GETTING AWAY, it said on the sign.The shop was neatly laid out in sections, tents, utensils, packing, holdalls, bedding the lot. Dutta, looked down at Anay , asked him ,"come on tell me which item would be the first one we should look for? excited he headed towards the tents ,"this one mamoo we need a tent.. ".Dutta bowed his head,"humm , correct! we need an enclosure. Baji and Naku looked at a few ready packed ones. But Dutta was not to impressed, he asked the attendant for displayed tents.They were guided to the large area which held pitched up tents with various capacity, shapes and sizes. As they stood and looked at the models, Naku went for the sectioned ones.. holding more then two people. Dutta leaned above her and whispered.. "these tents have no privacy... ummh do you get what I mean?. Naku looked down shyly,"haan pata hai , but I would rather have Anay beside me.. raat ko daar na jaye"..Dutta leaned closer to her head,"ey Naku! don't know if he gets frightened in the night, but I sure will blow a fuse, if you are occupied else where, tera kam hai meri chinta karne.." he grumbled.
She shook her head, turned her head and looked up into his eyes, "Saab please , don't create a scene, sab dekh rehein hain!.. as if he cared, he turned his face the other way and she, gave up ,"aach thek hai you chose what you want!". Baji, the problem solver beamed up ,"woh kya haina Bhau! I think you should get a single tent for two. Along with a single tent with a single partition..me and Anay can sleep in one area and dosera partition mein we keep our belongings.Dutta nodded, humm. so that settles it," and he turned to Naku , and teased , any objections?, she held her piece. Dutta gentled held her elbow and took her towards the sleeping bags with a sly smile.Once they got to the bedding section , he leaned over her to her ear, "now tell me, single sleeping bag?.. cozy wala humm?.. ye double?.Naku gave him a top to bottom look and said.."knowing your sleeping habits, you stretch all over the bed.. so double sleeping bag".He chuckled.. and looked the other way , and muttered.. makes no difference.. you'll be zipped in with me.. whichever way you look at it.. but on second thought he tapped her shoulder, "Naku check the length of the bag meri legs are way longer than yours".. this time she giggled. He turned to her and gave her a frozen look, "why are you laughing, this not a joke, it's a fact!".Baji who was into the conversation chipped in,"phir tu Bhau you'll have to sleep in a .. he said with a wink. Dutta stopped him, with a raised palm, "bas! stop it! and tell me what else you need?.Baji stood checking some bikes.With a dimpled smile he quipped, "been a while since we rode these Bhau? kya bolta tu?.Dutta smiled broadly and went, haan! aacha idea hai, and he looked towards Anay and called him over.The lad came fascinated by the light weight cycles.. Dutta stood tall behind him and rested his hands on his shoulders..shall we do cycling at the camp site too Anay ?.. to be continued.. Hamlet53~6.10.13
