Part 2.

Once the initial shock of facing the identity of his father plus the heinous deeds of his namesake.. Dutta does which we all readily allow him to do so.. get help! from a local waterhole!.. yes he needs a stiff drink of two. The man drinks any how it's one of the damnations that adds to his doomed persona.. here the drink acts as the elixir to treat his smarting.. and he doesn't need any body, just some fermented decadent potion to knock out all that he has stumbled across!

We see the lion king of Patil Vadi prowl in his domain, looking for solace. He finds it eventually at the darru ka adda with the commoners.

He is reminded of the clout he holds in the area, but to no avail! it matters not to him today.. the stark naked truth is now he is a nameless man as much as his name is Dutta ShreeRam Patil .. hush... they know not, but he knows and for Dutta this is the truth that he has to face .. the poisoned cup that he has to drink from now on..

All he desires for is to erase his own identity...how he strips his full name to a single calling,"Dutta!".Bitterness gives way to cynical humour, found his father so treats all present with liquor, for everyone a toast! a bizarre celebration..

So much at ease he is here..in this booze joint.. It's almost he has peeled of his aristocratic image, his status, his house, as he sits here amongst the rabble, as one of them.. but worse off probably, is the sad fact that while they know who they are? he suffers from an identity crisis.. and he let's of steam by releasing his anger out at the locals..

Then comes an impromptu scenario~ a father son occurance..yes Dutta's spirit aches, he never had a father who cared, and disciplined him.. the words, baap, father, anad, orphan, corrodes his insides , play upon his mind.. and how he lashes out in rage and violently reprimands the astray son.. and sardonically, outlines rather, pointedly reminds the boy out what paternal duties are towards their children... all that he missed out on. Great scene where Dutta bellows at the boy, but really in a way questions himself, his acts baap ko mara ga? yet briskly only justifies that his father was a low down reprobate! .. Dutta mourns the vocation of his father publicly, the neglect that he suffered at his father's hands.. another question he asks is aye /babba ke hoti hoi anad khe layie ga?... this has to be a balm for him.. surely all his life he was raised as AS and SP's SON...

but who here is going to believe Dutta?.All fear his name ..that which spells, leadership and supremacy in the area.. yet upon exiting the darru ka adda... we get the taste of Dutta's defence mechanism his fury and caustic tongue.

Ghulam Ali's ghazal..is well chosen to show the tragic, inebriated image of Dutta.. fulfilling the words drank himself to death.. the song sets mood, you have the so to speak .. the rendered homeless Dutta , stalking the alley ways, bottle in hand far removed from the elegant ,suave yet cold Dutta Bhao..

here you have a lost it Dutta..~ the full moon that graced the firmaments now reduced to a broken star... there follows a sorry note along with submission to fate , this was meant to happen! naught could prevent this..

But then he returns to his abode.. to me this is so much an animalistic quality of Dutta.. after all the hunting, prowling, he returns to his habitat.. his home, his room..his terroritory. His moan at Bappa for letting him down is so moving.. he is so like a broken, hurt and upset child.. His mother.. comes as his earthly support, but he shuns her attention, she withdrew facts .. and he has to mete out punishment to her.. bruised and silent he retires to his refuge.. to the next person in the line of support..

His love... and here too it's all about his preoccupation with his name. sirf Dutta..

His mate.. reduced to tears.. helpless but hurt.. very hurt..Baji... actually recognizes the gravity of the situation.. when one's identity is at stake.. one can say out of all Dutta's supporters.. Baji realizes his Bhao's predicament the most.. after all being ignorant about one's father was common to both...for Baji knows the value of relationships.. but now he faced a bigger challenge of pulling his beloved mate, brother.. out of this emotional chasm..

And then we see the ailing, suffering father.. some confessions, and accusations, punishment for the catalogue of his sins.. a broken man looking for some peace..

Seems like Dutta is still up as a wager.. between AS and his father.. who will win Dutta's love and peace for themselves.. makes me wonder if forgiveness is such a big issue..? for according to Dutta for sins there can only be punishment! no forgiveness!

Dutta returns to his favourite past time.. this is how he spends his nights drinking, talks gibberish and gets aggressive and repeatedly spews venom about father, home! it's like he is unstoppable in his crowning rage! ... family, his house, relationships he cannot cope with so.. wallows once again at the local Adda.. and again.. till he can erase his grief from his memory..

As expected, each person related to Dutta, takes on the role of being his guardian angels..top of the list has to be his love.. the simple, down to earth Naku, who the night before offers him her support.. which to a point he appreciates.. but since then he mulls things over and realizes... this sly girl too knew.. so in this scene he gives it to her! so much so for her heroism!.. The look of disbelief when he finds out she has followed him to the adda!... was he here ,because she wouldn't allow to drink at home???

Interesting.. challenges she throws at him.. a tousle between deceit and selfishness.. Naku, I felt is hard hitting.. as she turns it around on him.. that he is giving grief.. to his loved ones... but to me this is not the time or place, for as he calls it her bashans! that's why ,to me he refuses to go home with her. Instead he elucidates his pain to her.. reminds her of his pleas for the truth from both her and his mother ..

But its alarming, his words that are a grim knell for things to come, more hidden truths, skeletons in the closet...no! no! amount of reasoning can make him see sense. Naku tries good counselling skills with simple solutions.. but sadly he is not ready. For no one manipulates Dutta.. other than Dutta himself.. for Dutta doesn't give a toss! A~Z all are lairs and cheats!

But, at the end of the clip we see the penny did drop.. Naku's words do penetrate his heart and mind, and the dutiful son returns 😭😭 ... Perhaps to pay back, homage and respect to the woman who brought him up..Here I feel that there is method and reason to certain rites and traditions.. for individuals do often overlook past grievances ..and move towards compromise...forgiveness, empathy...they see another's loss.. ummhhh very moving scene between a foster mother and an adopted son.. long live Dutta's hasty retreat from Hades.. all thanks to his love .. Naku

Forgiveness granted.. to the sinner.. AS, chilling words.. something to ponder about...

Dutta.. the good son finally does the right thing.. tends to his father at his death bed..

This scene to me is so real.. Dutta is so cold, he cannot be anything else.. Mishal throughout this scene has glazed eyes, pupils dilated as if in a trance.. emotionless ..the son.. the don with a golden heart , sensitive to the suffering of others.. in this scene stands still, frigid.. Dutta has before his eyes a man who is a stranger... but in the name of his father.. the son beholds a man dying before him...

Remember Dutta is a don.. many of his foes have given up life before his very eyes.. tu ye ek aur sahi... but hark!.. a cryptic message from the lips of a dying man.. and another tragedy in the making.. Dutta's erroneous judgement..

The start of the grieving period, based on putting the pieces together, past and recent.. Dutta is a don who does not accept things at face value..the cynical remark regarding his true name, Dutta Shriram Patil is proclaimed as he curtly denounces his birth name.. justice is done! his fathers name removed as his surname..Dutta displays his usual eccentric calm after his rash moves.. or is it about the death in the family..?

But in a way Dutta in this clip recognizes that like himself.. his father too was complex.. Damoder vanished, then suddenly resurfaces and evaporates yet again leaving Dutta to solve a complex problem.. discover the woman who is tipped to betray him??.. questions, questions.. The issue here is that Dutta is a man of action.. pondering and questioning, is not his forte, so here when he has to deal with unanswered questions he tends to lose it.. now why he never considers AS? as the woman ?.. think about it.. but have to say Dutta is surrounded with women..thank heavens for Baji..Naku comes across as a calming agent in this clip.. they gel very well together.. the calm before the storm..

So herein comes the son.. in the name of his father to bid final farewell to a man called Damoder Patil.. Mishal's face as Dutta is dead pan, how regal he looks.. bold, strong and unflinching.. compare him to the man in the daru ka adda..

... and so the name of Dutta's father continues beyond the grave... in one more other then him..
