I did some googling. Regarding the director it seems its his first film. He has shot some commercials before. He has also assisted Anurag Basu. Anurag Basu mostly used to make good films at the start of his Bollywood career. Hope something has rubbed off on this chap too.

Anurag Basu is a noted Director - u righlty said on class rubbing off...hopefully...

LS was an awesomely directed show - linear and u got a movie like feel unlike the usual serials.

Must have shot well in advance.

What bengali films are no longer good as they used to be? I have not even seen one commercial masala type bengali movie or even a glimpse of it. I have watched bengali movies only on DD, which are usually award winning older movies. I'm sure MR is not doing any commercial masala movie, but a good movie. No point doing a commercial potboiler in bengali, when his aim is bollywood.
