Dear Bandbajao,
Lets start with the twin negatives in discussion today.
The soft yet firm "Nahi" and then the shake of head followed by firm "Nehi".
While reading all the opinions you guys have exchanged, must admit it looks very probable that Dutta has in his unique style answered both of Madhu's questions.
Then I tried to look at the scene from a whole new angle and thought, could it be that Madhu's revelations about their father had Dutta soften up on Damodar in an unguarded moment? And having realized that in the next, he jerks himself out of reverie by admonishing with a "Nehi"?
Dutta and Damodar in a manner is very similar to the father-son duo of Dilip Kumar-Amitabh Bachchan from Shakti. There too the son believing his father had abandoned him grew up with a hatred so severe that it led him to a path of self destruction. Yet all his life he secretly begged to be proven wrong, craving for nothing else but his fathers love. Wanting to make him proud. The Father on the other hand pined for his son, his forgivance and understanding.
With the Dutta-Damodar story, in essence we can draw a few parallels here. I'm not saying the two father-son relations drawn are the same, but at some tangent these two sets of relationship do cross over. I believe Dutta has a secret longing to be proven wrong about his perceptions of his father. Yet until today there was nothing or nobody who could have provided him with answers to the questions exploding in his mind. Madhu telling him that their father had missed his son throughout his life, had regretted his actions, was ashamed of his insensitivities towards him must have forced Dutta to look at Damodar afresh. Again, knowing how their father would discuss him with Madhu, making him part of her life, giving her enough reasons to love a brother who wasn't even aware of her existence...all that is bound to have touched a chord deep within someone as sensitive as Dutta.
Leading his mind to let go of its fixations and turn wistful for a moment may be!! Who knows?
And probably having sensed the melt within, he had yanked at his senses with that "Nehi".
Don't we know how difficult a task it is for Dutta BHAU to part with his self righteous Dhoka theories?
Seeing last days pre cap I had written about this feeling that may be Dutta will be more than a little wistful today when Madhu tells him of her childhood, of the days she had shared with their father. And had added, Will Dutta have a tiny pang for not having been a part of that scene himself?
I think I wasn't too much off the mark there. His "Nehi" with his hand on her head was almost a statement. As if saying, we lost out on our childhood together but now there's no way I'm letting you get away from me.
Just soaking in every bit of whats happening here, loving it soo much. If you will remember, I had mentioned once that this Madhu of a girl's got spunk. And did she show it today!! Refusing to agree with Dutta's version of their shared virasaat. Telling him you had everything yet chose to look away, I had nothing yet I reached out.
Hope Dutta gets back enough sense to identify for himself the self-pity trip that he's gotten himself into.
Imagining MR and Soni was such a pleasure. They were brilliant here. Especially MR's expression hand movements and bewilderment when he asks...maine to mange bhi nehi, tune mangi thi kya? brought out such raw pain. Soni was equally good when she asks...Ineed to know...bataiye mujhe Bhaiyya...kya aap Dad se sach mein itni nafrat karte hain? I could her that slight husky tone of her cracking up at the end of the sentence.
And now,
NOTE FOR NAKU: Please pay attention to the million dollar advice offered free by Yuvika and droopy...climb down that 'Daru peene se liver kharab ho jata hai' moral high ground and slosh you man, make him drink like a fish to the gills leaving enough space for your words to enter the moled right rear and three-ringed left ear. Give him an earful, in both ears. He will listen.
(but wait a minute, isnt alcohol highly combustible??? Then how come his fire calms down with
the stuff????) May be then you won't have to tiptoe into the room when he's getting his full eight hours (must be Nanasaheb's influence. Warna Dutta ko thodi na AS ne beauty sleep ke faide sikhaye!) and present your case with your Saab-talk and gentle cooings.

Poffer him his preferred Batli and say with authority...Mai bolti, phultu talli hone tak piyo Saab, mereko aap se jaruri baat kaneka hai.
Coming back to the writers and you Bandbajao, I think Nanasaheb's gonna make you guys pay for that re-christening bit. As I have said, you can take his name away, but can't dethrone a style icon. (noted the dirty brown-turquoise blue combination used for him). Whatever be his name, he will remain a rose. And I fear, you will get pricked by his thorns.
(I won't comment much on Nanasaheb though. Reserving my observations for Monday.)

Us trapped and hanging in the chakravyuh for 48 hours.
You and the writer relaxing away the weekend.
Yet, even after such trickery one is left with no other option but to feel humbled by the efforts you guys make to keep us entertained and engrossed throughout the week.
