*sigh* So it's been more than 12 hours since I first saw the TB article this morning.. I still feel that something is drastically OFF in how the future storyline is being planned - and that in and off it self is for some reason making me feel k this cannot be happening. It just doesn't make sense..
But even so.. I feel the need to vent - vent for the past 3 months of emotional turbulence that we've had to deal with.. I haven't really allowed myself to dwell on this much but I think I need to let it out of my system now. So here goes..
First, I am absolutely appalled by the unprofessional behavior put forth by the channel. And being a viewer of daily shows for the past 6 years, I can safely say that I'm not a stranger to stupid channel politics at all.. Even so, the utter disregard of viewers' feelings that has been portrayed by the channel and it's officials leaves a very bitter and disgusting taste in my mouth. For MONTHS now, we've been hanging on an emotional pendulum - going back and forth between "MR's staying" and "Oh no he's not!". And not ONCE in these 3 months has anyone with the channel gone ON RECORD to state one way or another what the deal is. Hell, they haven't even said that they cannot comment on the deal! They've said NOTHING. And a whole lot of "nothing" has bred a whole lot of "speculations" and "worry". If they had only considered their viewers for once - if they'd only BOTHERED to clear the air one way or another, things wouldn't have been as bad as they have been. I'm not saying that they should have told us that MR's going to be around but at least go on the record to let us know what your official stance is. Aye, nay or no comments. But say something! And they didn't.
And it wasn't due to our lack of trying. Numerous emails, messages, posts on discussion pages have been IGNORED or rudely dismissed! The fans have been treated with such utter disregard that it honestly baffles me. Because anyone who conducts business is expected to be familiar with the phrase "The customer is always right". Now I'm not saying that we are always right - I'm not saying that. But I do expect a certain level of decency from the people I'm giving my business to. I do expect cordial customer service and respectful interactions when and if I contact them with a grievance. I am not saying I'll be right, but I do expect to be told that I'm wrong in a RESPECTFUL and CIVIL manner. I do NOT appreciate being insulted or ignored entirely! But I guess the channel representatives did not get that memo because all I've heard are instances of misconduct on facebook or of messages being ignored entirely. It was as though the whole "feedback" page was set up as mere mirage. That it had no real purpose because nothing that was said was ever heard or responded to.
Any show's fate, good or bad, is determined by its TRPs. It's no secret that TRPs make or break a show - that TRPs bring success OR failure to everyone associated with a show. But where TRPs are so important, it seems that the PEOPLE responsible for generating those TRPs are not! Where NUMBERS on a paper are treated as the ultimate verdict, VOICES of the viewers represented by those numbers are treated as no more than mere NOISE. The rise and fall of TRPs are enough to cause drastic storyline/cast changes, but the collective opinions of those very viewers are apparently not enough to STOP randomly pathetic storylines and unwarranted changes in cast. They put shows/characters on the screen for US to watch and adore - but for some reason what we THINK of those characters or what we WANT from that show doesn't matter. It's like the channel/people incharge want to SEE how their "changes" affect us, but they don't actually want to BUILD on those changes... those feedbacks. And the end of the day, they are still going to do what they want - throw us in a metaphorical pit of fire, if that's what they want - irrespective of how loud we scream for them to do otherwise.
To this day, MR hasn't actually said that he WANTS to leave - he hasn't said that he'd prefer to leave or that he desires something "more". Sure, he has dreams of making it big in the film industry and I'd honestly find it odd if he didn't. He certainly has the talent to succeed and ANY person as brilliant as he is in his profession SHOULD desire MORE. I don't fault him that and I don't think he should be blamed for it. But what I find unbelievably juvenile is the fact that THAT very same dream is being EXPLOITED for personal gain. Just because MR has a dream to succeed, it can be used as a REASON for why he should leave his hard earned success? For why he should step down from a role that he single-handedly raised to a pinnacle of excellence that I believe will be hard to parallel...? All this because the people incharge feel like playing God with the show and its viewers' emotions?
Quite honestly, to think that ONE person or a set of persons in a channel have the ability to overshadow the opinion/desires of millions of viewers is nothing short of disgusting. To think that in a business BASED on viewers' opinion, NOTHING we say as viewers matter - that our feelings and our emotional turmoil doesn't amount to squat - leaves me enraged, insulted and disappointed. But mostly enraged. No... Definitely enraged.
