So I guess that this is going to be the final dissection that I'm to make on this show for good. Strangely enough, I haven't had much to say about recent episodes and I think it might have something to do with a very annoying TC article, among other things. Though I've noticed things to constructively critisize in the episodes, I've just sort of ignored them because I got this mentality that I just wanted to enjoy Dutta for, well, obviously for his remaining episodes. I realized that even if I do constructively critisize or point out things that annoyed me about an episode, it wouldn't do any good, because if those rumors are finally true - then I won't be sticking around for much longer anyway. Who cares what happens to the show following Mishal's departure, right?
*shrugs*
But I thought that I'd do a final dissection on today's episode (since everyone adores my critique *cough*not *cough* 😛). I'm gonna start with the cons this time, because you know what they say: One always wants the bad news first 😆 Here goes nothing, ya'll.
Cons:
1) I understand that the crew on the show only have one camera to shoot with now, but seriously, I can't get over the fact that they shoot a scene from a mile's distance 😆 I mean, what's the point in that? For instance, the scene where Kala moves toward Dutta as if she wants to hug him was so brilliant. I loved that they shot it from a distance so that you could see him back away. Beautiful. But... I was sort of missing his expression from a closer angle. They could've at least drawn the moment out a bit more, showing more than just a second's movement. It was such an awesomely wicked gesture from Kala's side and Dutta backing away? Gold. Why only shoot it from such a long distance so that I nearly poked the unconscious Suds' shoulder to ask him for his binoculars...
They've been repeating this from-long-distance shots several times over the past few episodes. In such a maha episode as today, it might get extremely annoying when you really want to get into the moment - full coverage.
2) I swear that I'm not an insensitive person, but... what's wrong with Mahi Vij's acting lately? There's no... emotion. No reaction. I've let it slide for a few episodes now, but today I was really missing Nakusha there. When Dutta came riding on the horse, when he stood before Kala, all this time - there was no emotion, no reaction on her face. Just blandness. And even when she called "Saab", it was lacking force. Recently, all I have seen of Mahi is her eyes squinting and face bland. No emotion, no force behing her dialogues.
Okay, I get that she's human. She's probably tired from JDJ and shooting back and forth, but still. In my opinion, situations like these end up making an actor/actress seem a bit unprofessional. I don't know. It might just be me, but I haven't seen Nakusha on the show much lately.
Baji expressed pride and happiness to see Dutta. AS expressed concern and happiness to see Dutta. Leela, Roops, Madhu and even Kishore expressed happiness, relief, and complete awe. Then there was Naku. Who was just squinting in the sunlight...
Pros:
1) Do I need to even say it? 😉 DUTTA, DUTTA, DUTTA. Okay, now I just sound like that creeper Suds. But really, Dutta was mindblowing once again. The way that he rode that horse, his expressions, his movements, the way that he said those dialogues with so much intensity and power, and last but not least - the way that he fought his enemies.
My favorite scene in today's episode has got to be when he beat up Suds. Mishal was absolutely outstanding. He moved with such ease and grace. His expression didn't even waver for a second. He was all power, my gosh. I was literally bouncing in my seat. I also really loved the small but significant detail of Dutta asking for blessings in the same words that his mother often did. It was like he was calling her, calling for her blessings rather than an actual goddess. It was like he was remembering her in this important war, asking for both her forgiveness and support. Beautiful. I interpreted all this from the tone of Mishal's voice, by the way. That guy is just one of a kind. Amazing.
2) Suds. Gotta give him credit for my happiness as well. He was awesome 👏 The way that he laughed at Dutta, lolled his head from side to side when he was beaten up, and the way that he chickened out, almost weeping like a baby 😆 Beautiful. Aaaah. Sukun aagaya. I've been waiting to see Suds on his knees, whimpering in pain, for like... ever. In fact, I've wanted to punch him myself several times lekin kya kare? Mera laptoppie thoda expensive hai. Can't break it.
I do have a feeling that his part in this war isn't over yet. I feel like he still has a key role to play and will do something that will piss me off
3) Kala. Incredible. She never ceases to amaze me just like Dutta. What a broken pair they are. The way that she came toward him with her arms open - that was my second most favorite scene. The way that Dutta backed - heartbreaking. I loved the expression on Kala's face when Dutta wouldn't embrace her. It was something more than I'd originally thought. Her expression displayed that she was upset, in a way. It stung that he wouldn't hug her, because she has always felt that she possessed him. That he was her possession, in a way. And now, proof was before her that she'd finally lost him completely. There's no turning back now. The brother who loved her unconditionally doesn't even want to be touched by her now. That's gotta hurt her ego.
4) Loved that the villagers fought with primitive weapons rather than riffles or guns. Brilliant detail.
5) I stand by my belief that the white horse was chosen specifically for Dutta as a symbol 😃😆 Whether the CVs meant for it to be or not.
Okay, there's more I loved, but really - it's late and I have to get up early in the morning.
One final thing that I want to say to the writers: We've all raged and blamed you for several things throughout the show's duration (unfortunately that's the risk you take when you create such a beautiful show 😆 The fans will haunt your every step and keep you on your toes). But one thing is clear and it's only fair that you're given credit for it. You have tried your best to sustain the essence of the characters, the show, no matter what the channel demanded or whatever happened off screen. You have tried your best to stay true to the characters and concept - and for that, personally, I'm very grateful. Thank you.
Now. I'm going to enjoy my sher fight his battle. I'm going to remember him. You guys enjoy him, too 😉 Tomorrow's episode will surely be awesome!
NOTE: Keep hating Colors. They deserve it 😆
