Sad news again for us die hard fans of LTL. The channel seem unaware of the fact that, although LTL began as the story of a poor maid, a month into the show the character of Dutta was introduced and...WOW!!! THis character just became the whole life and soul of the show.
I agree that MV is a good enough actress, and it is my personal opinion, just good enough. However, MR's potrayal of Dutta left me speechless. He fitted the role like a hand in a glove. It was as if it was scripted specifically for him, to fit in with his demeaner, looks, stature and acting prowess.
The story brought back to me the feelings about love and romance last felt in my teen years. The resurgence of characters I once fell in love with (Heathcliff, Mr Darcy,Mr Rochester)- all came back for me in Dutta Bhau. For a story or character to achieve this is by no means a small achievement- myself being a happily married mother, who had left those heroes in some far away dark recess of my memories. However, I am greatfull to this story for rekindling those feelings, like being a young girl again and in awe of a fictional hero.
I do not know what blessings or ashirwaad MR received before embarking on his journey to do this role, or which holy shrine he went to pray at, but boy, did he win over the hearts of practically every female that watched the show or what? LTL quickly became about him and him only. That is why for us fans LTL is Dutta, and vice versa.
Myself, like many others began to subscribe to Colors after it's introduction to the UK, only for this show. Had it not been for LTL, they would not be getting my money each month. I also am saddened at the prospect of the show continuing without Dutta. Surely, LTL was not called Laagi Tujhse Lagan..aur ab tujhse...aur tujhse bhi..aur tujhse bhi...
This show was loved because of its unique, exquisite and distinct character portrayal and story. I hope they don't spoil it. Good luck to MR if he is leaving , although I sincerely hope these are merely rumours and the story reaches a logical climax and conclusion. I hope they don't have any silly ideas like story leaps( which colours has done with other shows) or substitute actors, and Nakusha falling for another guy? personally cannot fathom that.
The channel should be aware that their audience now also include a majority of highly educated populus both in India and abroad. We want quality that we pay for, so stupid open ends, inconclusive story lines and bloopers, are not easily accepted as the norm. So ridiculous changes will never work- and colors will find out by the number of cancellations in subscriptions they receive.
For the last year I have lived and breathed LTL ,and checking out this forum regularly. It took over my life because it was different, I don't know why, but it was. I never used to watch Indian /Pakistani serials avidly at all prior to this. Now I check out others too, but nothing has ever enthralled me like this story or Tasha. I hope all ends well.
Regards to all,
Saeeda.
