My good opinion once lost is lost forever

Ltl so reigns so supreme on my mind that whatever movie I see these days, it somehow reminds and connects me to laagi....and I know we all stand on the same footings. In fact recently I was watching sholay and during the famous dialogue between Sanjeev kumar and Amjad khan where thakur(sanjeev kumar) says ye haath nahi faansi ka fandaa hai I was reminded of ltl's most infamous dialogue 'ise mangalsutra mat samajhna...yeh faansi ka fandaa hai.'
As you guys must have got it from the title i was watching Pride and Prejudice and again zap came ltl flashes and the obvious comparisions..... with the legendary story and its characters...
Both Lizzy and Darcy are headstrong characters just like our own Nakku and Dutta. Darcy is arrogant, a snob to some extent, tough exterior with a good heart... just like our own gadha dutta, it was lizzy who changed darcy ,,,,, same goes for nakku and dutta. Nakku changed Dutta.
but looking to the scenario and dutta slapping nakku the comparision ends here....
lizzy changed Darcy fundamentally without knowing it.... When she threw his proposal back into his face..... because he had done so abominally.... he had become a changed man... lizzy did not know it....she felt it....and then realized it.....that is when she also fell for the man who saved her sister and was humbled by the fact that a man of such calibre could love her.....
In ltl's case Nakku had tried to change him.... not a conscious effort.... but she wanted him to happy and for that it was necessary for him to take that leap into the journey of faith and love.... but then because of her only he is back to square one...
and that is where i find Darcy stronger....
he changed and didnot even expect an acknowledgement from Lizzy... and he changed permanently...and with that change he brought a change in lizzy's portrayal of Darcy in her mind...
I love that....he became a better man.... he was never a hypocrite.... but a proud one and his pride had made him propose to Lizzy the way he had....
It was he who had said that 'my good opinion once lost is lost for ever.' implying that he would judge people and they would be branded for life in his mind....nothing would change ...but he rectified it in the end when he proposed her again and said those legendary words,,,'you have bewitched me body and soul and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on.'

all his pride and rantings and rude behaviour were forgotten and forgiven at this point of time....he had redeemed himself

but dutta....dutta has gone to a point from where it would be very difficult to come back....to be forgiven.... if nakku would forgive him without any penance on his side then it would be a degradation for nakku also....and i am talking about penance and not penalty..
that is where Elizabeth (lizzy) is the supreme character.... the way she had held herself all throughout her story was amazing.... calm, poised, intelligent......
she herself knew that she had low tolerance for fools...when she told her sister Jane who has a very amiable disposition that 'you give me 40 such men and i cannot be as happy as you..... till i have your goodness i cannot have your happiness'
nakku has that goodness.... and to some extent i do believe she resembles Jane....good, honest, and unable to see the real face behind the face...had she been not hit on her head about the truth about kala she would not have even thought about it. and I understand that....she comes from a basti....an illiterate and impulsive mother and a drunkard father dont contribute much to her upbringing except her amazing courage.... that is what makes her different than Jane
but she has not fallen for a simple guy like jane's beau...she has fallen for dutta who comes with a baggage...but so did Darcy... but he overpowered them all.......he was able to weed them all out....
Nakku does not have that leisure..... she has the ET, a stupid and pendulum like mother-in-law and above all Dutta's inner demons to fight.... because dutta is too weak to fight with them.... he succumbs to them....and lashes out on people near to him....
that is selfish... because he knows....he knows this two would never leave him he tortures baaji and nakusha.....
To be an idiot and selfish and proud dont make an appealing character....but still he was the apple of our eyes because of one thing....his honesty....his child likeness....his basic goodness... his ability to see beyond koel nakku's ugliness, background....his gesture of saving a girl from death (a girl he hardly knew)...his action of putting his friend first in a sense of emergency....
but this things seem to have vanished from his nature....he slaps an injured girl who put her life on line for him....he walks off not even bothering to know whether baaji who had come to save him from chaskar was safe or not....

this journey this time will not only have dutta redeeming himself.....it has to be nakku finally rising to rediscover herself too.... will she always be like this.... pushed, trampled and finally used as an anchor when need arises...she has to have her self respect...just like elizabeth had...she has to for once teach dutta a lesson....a lesson for life....a lesson of life...

p.s. dont make a lot of sense...and thoughts are just random...so please read it with a pinch of sugar😛

Very well written. I really hope that Naku starts to take over his room, his house and start to do things not caring what Dutta cares or does......because he's stooped to an all time low, now she shouldn't care for his opinion ......
But we all know that Naku still wants to save him from himself...and the sad reality is that she won't be able to do that until he himself wants to save himself.
I love your comparion with Lizzzy and Darcy as to Naku and Dutta.
Where can naku possibly go if she were to leave? Whom can she ask for help? No one....she's a poor girl from the slums. This drama is showing me the helplessness of women in society in general no matter where they are from and how we have to empower ourselves inorder to change this notion that the husband has these all powerful rights over this wife.............
AND FOR ANOTHER THING......if DUtta doesn't even want to acknowledge the fact that Naku is his wife.....and doesn't care what she does, then why slap her for dancing. Apparently wht she does and where she goes is of no concern to him so why this show of possessiveness.....?????????????????????

Thank you Sonya😳... somehow those characters have merged into TASHA for me....could not help the comparisions....😊
@ bold ....I so agree.... this is about strength of a woman who had a curse of a face that she could not reveal..... it is somehow transcribing into this nanad-bhabhi war.....what made Tasha special was all the evils around did not affect this love....and I still think kala is not an issue....she is very well within the character....It is Dutta who has somehow transgressed...
The slap whether in public or private is not important.... because Dutta doesnot understand the concept of privacy and private talks....for him the world does not matter....
but when everybody is going gung-ho about the slap being a very husband like slap ... I am like 😕 ...
arent we encouraging women bashing for whatever reasons....and frankly if boozing and making a scene warrants a slap....he is the one who deserves several...what he is not understanding is that she is under medication... if she is brought in a party in a state as hers she could very well have lost senses even without drinking....high medication does that to you.... if he is so possessive he should not have let her climb down ..... and also not agreed to a party.... a woman of your house gets shot and you party???? what kind of idiot are you?????
and as to where nakku can go???? well she can always go back to the basti....i think she is more safer there....what with dutta slapping and kala shooting....her mother is capable enough to take care of her...
It cannot be always about Dutta... after all this is nakku's story.... she has to gain back her self respect ...and by constantly professing that she loves him and that she is putting her life in danger because of him is not the remedy...
and the logic that dutta will repent big time does not make it less abhorrent that he has slapped a woman who was shot saving his life... .It is time Dutta proves what he can do for his love...and it is time Nakku makes him do so....

perfectly put it!!!!! msthula, all this while since the FR i was in a turmoil as to the limits that dutta could go in punishg nakku n to certain extent he was justified in behaving the way he did, but now it has crossd all levels of sanity, he contradicts his own bhashan where he says i respect n am idebted for ever those who have saved my life, n the very next episode he slaps nakku in full public , n what abt the bhashan he gave to ganpat,😒 hes treated nakku worse than what ganpat had ever done being a step father, n comg from a background of deprivation. 😔 Its a shame that dutta has stooped so low n i dont understand what else is in store for nakku who will not leave him till she proves herself . 💔

Sigh.☺️
I really don't know what to say. Blushing
My username should tell you how much I love Darcy. ❤️
When i first came on this forum, I'd replied to a similar post. Dutta is a lot like Darcy. Which is why I fell for him in the first place. His emotions run deep, whether it is love or hatred. ❤️ He is arrogant, very rigid about his opinions, rich, doesn't give people second chances....and when it comes to love....he forgets everything else. Nakusha can very much be Elizabeth, with her fiesty charm, and her strong will. She is the perfect match for our Dutta, in the sense that she will make him see sense. He will change, inspite of himself, to win her love. She will loosen him up, and make him a better person.
And most of all, she will shatter his pride and his prejudices about love. He will do the same for her too!
I love the thoughts in your post! Thanks a lot, dear! 😊

@bold so true, bryr ( I hope you dont mind me calling you that as..i dont know your name😊)....whatever he might have been he had not been a hypocrite.... it is very difficult to like a psycho, don character... difficult to portray a criminal and yet the main protogonist...and MR being the fantastic actor and the CVs had handled it beautifully till now....
but now he is loosing the charm...he was blind as a bat when it came to PN wasis....and so we accepted he did not recognize his sisters ...
but these days he is not blind...he has got a jaundiced eye....
and he seeing both nakku and baaji with that eye...
and why is it always about him???? why cant he see beyond himself....i understand pride...i understand male ego too...but this is cruelty....and why does nakku needs to prove herself all the time....it is Ramayana all over....Sita left the palace because of Rama....it was because of him she wandered in the horrible jungle...and yet she was told to give agnee pariksha...and in the end was made to leave in a pregnant stage and wander again in the jungle...
That is why i want nakku to be like Lizzy....she cannot have lizzy's intelligence....she is too passionate and impulsive and hence cannot have Lizzy's poise...but she needs to have her pride...and that pride is self-respect....It is then she will actually be what we want her to be... Dutta's better half😊

I know your love for those two characters😊... and that is why i was sure that you will comment on this post😊 and you dont know what to say????😲😳 you have the most beautiful way of saying things.. i envy you😊

and yes.... i also got hooked here because of the depth of dutta's character... the pride which was so patent darcy.... his hesitation to realize his love and once he does....his all-for-it attitude was so much like darcy in love...
@ bold....hats off to your optimism.... i have always marvelled the way you see positive in every bad happening... in that way i think you resemble Nakku a lot....😳
and i know this being a fictional show Dutta will come around.... but as always.... like we all do... i dont seem to get the fact that it is a fiction soap....and the characters come close to my heart and i react....and i cannot see either of them hurt....and either of them degrading themselves....😭
