I think Naku getting kidnapped than shot will be more potent. There wud be an enforced seperation where dutta wont know where or how his dil ki rani is thus making him even more bechain for her as he wud be sick with worry. and his wife getting kidnapped right in front of dutta's eyes wud be a slap on his face.
