yup...methinks his character has been modelled on a combination of balasaheb thakeray and haji mastan. people wud go to balasaheb with their problems and he became a sort of extra constitutional authority who helped people who had no hope. and haji mastan was a smuggler but then he was a 'good' don. the kind you see in movies. i guess only difference is datta's character is a lot younger than such characters in movies. thats why the love and hate he commands and the reasons behind it wud be interesting to watch.
