Why isn't it possible? $405,000 a year comes up to about Rs. 2 crore, which I think is actually too less for the lead in the highest rated show on TV, for someone who works year round. Many of our actors charge more than that just per movie.

Just to compare, each of Friend's 6 stars made $1 million per episode, about a thousand times more than what Smriti is said to make.
