I’m misunderstood & misinterpreted: Amit

Ever since Indian Idol finalist Amit Tandon got into acting, he's been mired in one controversy or the other.

The latest being his behaviour in Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar, where some believe he holds back his praise for other singers and is even considered arrogant. Over to Amit.

"People consider honesty to be arrogance. There are times when I've said something and after editing, it comes out differently on screen and the meaning changes completely. I've become the black sheep because I speak the truth. Speaking your mind is not considered the best thing as one expects you to be diplomatic," he says. So does he think he's misunderstood all the time? "I'm misunderstood and misterpreted!" he replies, "I don't want to be a person who believes something and says something else. But I guess I need to change a little, a little political correctness wouldn't hurt," he laughs.

Controversies didn't leave him in Saath Saath either where it was rumoured that he wasn't getting along with his co-star Tulika. "Again a case of something being made out of nothing. There's no problem between Tulika and me at all. In fact, she's also a trained singer and even gives me tips," he says. Talking about singing, Amit is ready with his next album Tanha and believes that people will recognise the hard work he's put in it. "The first video that will come out is the title track Tanha. It's a song that's a mix of dard and style," he says.

On the personal front, it's been a month-and-a-half that he got married to Ruby, a doctor from US. His state of mind now? "Blissful!" he says with a smile, "Ruby has taught me the value of sacrifice. She's a doctor and she could have made a very promising career in the US but she gave it all up to be with me here. I'm a very lucky guy." With someone so supportive by his side, we guess he needn't worry about any controversies at all, right Amit?!
