Wrap up your work by early evening this Navratri, or else you won't be able to shake a 'stick' at the Dandiya ground. First, Ganesh Utsav and now Navratri, the time bound is killing every one's excitement this year with the time restrictions being cut down from 11 p.m to 10 p.m. The deadlines of these festivals are not at all soothing to one's ears. Here we have our telly stars adding their bit to the talk of the town.

Riya V. Anandwala spoke to a few TV stars to find out what they think, if they have heard of the ruckus around the issue.

Jaya Bhattacharya - It is not going to work. In a city like Mumbai where everyone comes home by 8 to 8:30 after finishing their daily chores, no one will reach the ground before the deadline. The organizers won't be able to keep their show going. It is still understandable in the case of Ganesh Utsav wherein it was very important to cut on the noise pollution. But as dandiya's happen at a particular place like a ground, they don't really cause much of noise pollution. It is a very non-understanding rule passed by the law.

Rucha Gujarati -As most of Mumbaitites are busy working and they step in their homes around 9.00 or 9.30, so for them it is not at all possible. It is not at all fair enough as this festival is full of life and is named Nav 'ratri' which means playing all 9 nights. So if the restriction is posed the whole meaning of the festivity will be lost. The time limit imposed on Ganesh Utsav is still logical as it creates a lot of noise pollution.

"The deadline should be extended to 1.00 a.m. at least! "

Tina Parikh -What do they want? If they want us to stop celebrating all the functions, might as well tell it for once. 10.00 p.m, I think it is ridiculous. DO they want us to shut our offices by 4.00 p.m and come and play in the evening? The deadline should be extended to 1.00 a.m. at least! As far as Ganesh Utsav is concerned, it was still a fair deal. It causes too much of noise pollution, all the roads are jam, but then too as it comes once in a year, they can exempt that.

Kushal Punjabi -No! Not at all. It's not at all fair for a city like Mumbai. Imposing a ban on a city down south is completely different from a business capital and a populated city like Mumbai and the officials need to understand that. We need at least midnight's permission. I repeat 'at least' I would love it if it is on till 3.00 in the morning. Ganesh Utsav was still alright, not only because of noise pollution but also because of the jam packed roads.

"Having a deadline of 10 p.m is ridiculous"

Abhay Vakil -There should not be any time restrictions for any of the festivals, whether it is Dandiya or Ganesh Utsav. There should be a proper time limit for Dandiya, like 1:00 a.m. or something of that sort. But having a deadline of 10 p.m is ridiculous. It's a right of every common man to enjoy full 9 days of this festival, and by this we are deprived of our entertainment rights. I have noticed one thing about these government officials. They impose lenient rules on major serious issues and where there is no heavy matter of concern they'll compel all sorts of heavy rules which make no sense at all.

Chetan Hansraj -10 p.m is too early yaa. It's crazily early. India is full of festivals and frankly speaking this is all we have, what do we have other than this. If the law is planning to take that away from us too then GOD knows what is going to happen.

Thanks for sharing.......Government has passed the law, but do really people follow it in India!!!!!!!!!!

Why do people have to shut down till 10:00pm, what are Indian cops doing???? They should be there on full duty at this time of the year, not restrict people's entertainment. Why do we really have any police in our country...........they need to stop eating bribes from people and perform the service towards our community and nation.
