New Delhi, April 21: Smriti Irani, the reigning deity of Indian television has made up again with the czarina of Indian TV, Ekta Kapoor. The owner of Balaji Telefilm, one of the best known producing companies of soaps for Indian television industry had severe differences with Smriti Irani over how to handle the production for the best known serial Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (KSBKBT).
But luckily for both and more luckily for the viewers of KSBKBT who had developed a sort of affinity with Smriti, the two are back again and Smriti is all set to take over her role as affable Bahu in one of the longest and most awaited serials on Indian television.
While addressing a press conference Star Plus Senior Creative Director Anupama Mandloi welcomed Smriti Irani back to Balaji telefilm saying "'Balaji Telefilms and KSBKBT have a special place in the channel. It has been one of the most successful soaps of the channel. Smriti too means a lot for the channel."
In the same press conference Smiriti Irani said that KSBKBT holds a special place in her life as she started her career with it. ''I have become a part of everyone's family and every woman identifies with my character. I am happy to be a part of it again.'' Smriti had left the serial a year ago due to some differences with Ekta. She had then alleged that she was sacked by Ekta without even being given a notice. Ekta had defended herself by saying that Smriti had no time for the serial as she was busy with her own production house.
Ekta Kapoor too welcomed Irani with open arms saying, "'Though Gautami did a good job, my first choice for the role was Smriti. She was there from the beginning and people identify the character with her. I have given birth to 'Tulsi' but Smriti has given life to her.'"
A newspaper reported that "Ekta just met Smriti with an open mind and thankfully for both of them, it worked out very well. Ekta was not even sure that Smriti would agree to be part of the show again, but since the professional issues between them were sorted out, Smriti returned to play Tulsi. However, with Smriti's entry, Gautami has hardly anything to do in the show. Ekta understood this and immediately got her creative team to develop a concept entirely for Gautami. The concept is ready and soon a new show will be launched for Gautami."
