I just loved BR chopra's Mahabharat.....somehow it wud be difficult to adjust to new Bhism, Krishna and Draupadi....rest have faded in my memory..but these 3 were so good.....I am gonna watch it just coz I love the story of Mahabharat...and if shown properly..it is actually Baap of all saas-bahu serial 😆 .....all the serials ,including kyunki, are somewhere inspired by this epic...if shown nicely..I would also show it to my 4 year old son as educational tool......I have really high hopes from Ekta in this one

I dunno if the show will work. As far as adding something that's not "true", well the truth is really subjective when it comes to these myths. It is different for different people. It all depends how the writer/director of the serial interprets the texts, what sources they decide to use, etc. They will take some creative liberty no doubt. Even BR Chopra's version added stuff that's not in the popular versions (including the critical edition of the text) and modified some material as well. An example of a disputed event/addition in the serial was when Karna defeated Arjuna in a battle but pulled his arrow back because he realized it would not reach the target (Arjuna) before sunset. An example of modification is Abhimanyu's death scene. There are more if you study the episodes closely. The same is true of Ramanand Sagar's serials, though to a slightly lesser extent. So at the end of the day, what's important is that the makers devote themselves to the source material and manage to come out with a coherent screenplay and then do a good translation of that to the tv screen. Good screenplay and directing are, however, two of Balaji's greatest weaknesses. Let's see what Ekta does in the end. 😊
