New reality-game show Kaho Naa... Yaar Hai, will have celebs playing games and exploring their friendships in the process

Friendship is the theme of yet another reality-game show Kaho Naa... Yaar Hai, on Star Plus. The show will assemble a mix of celebs from film and television. The guests on the show so far are Dia Mirza, Ronit Roy, Gautami Gadgil, Sajid Khan, Sonu Nigam and Mallika Sherawat.

The show to be produced by Optymistix India, will replace Nach Baliye in the primetime band. Karan Patel who plays Robbie in Balaji's Kasturi will be hosting the show.

Like most reality shows, Kaho Naa Yaar Hai is an adaptation of the popular European game show, Friends Forever. The format of the show allows two celebrities to play various games that measure the depth of their friendship.

Elaborating about the game, Sanjiv Sharma, executive chairman and CEO of Optimystix, says, "We will have celebrities from television, film, media and politics. To make the show more interesting, we will have celebs who are good speakers and vibe well with the audience. We will also have our in-house parameters for judging the participants. The guest celebs will play as opponent teams, exchanging facts about their life, bringing back memories of their childhood. The idea is not to sensationalise the celeb's life or to expose them. It's a show based on friendship."

Why Karan Patel instead of a known face? He says, "I know he is new but he has a lot of potential. I am sure, Karan will be a very good host as well."

Slightly off topic: Even though I dont like Karan much as an actor (Or maybe just the Angad wannabe Robbie character is to blame), I found him to be a really nice guy on NB, extremely funny and likable. I think he'd make a good host. 😊
