It is not necessary that he wants to kill Nandini. Of course, he was looking through keyhole and Nandini was present in that room. But may be somebody else was also in that room, whom that guy saw but we did not.

I think he picked nandini b/c she was the only one alone in the room and it mighht be easier to kill her, the rest had someoen w/ them [mihir-tulsi, damini-mohini, karan-tanya...etc]
