Introducing unlikely characters in the serials is characteristic of Balaji Telefilms' serials. This time it's Abhijeet Sawant, the first Indian Idol, who caught the fancy of Balaji boss Ekta Kapoor.
The singer will be performing in a special episode of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. It is to be noted that Abhijeet is the protg of Sony, a rival channel of Star. Since Abhijeet's contract with Sony is over, the creative team of Balaji Telefilms called him to sign him up for the special performance. In fact, we've heard from reliable sources that Ekta might introduce him in one of her serials too.
When contacted, Ekta did not rule out the possibility. "So far, Abhijeet is only performing in the one-hour special episode," she said.
Abhijeet Sawant, on the other hand is tight-lipped. "I am concentrating on my singing career. I don't want to talk about acting at this moment," he said.
Abhijeet, however, is quite bothered about the erratic shooting schedules of TV actors. "It took more than one hour to shoot just one song. I was really surprised that TV actors work under so much pressure on a daily basis. I really admire the actors who entertain viewers daily, despite so much stress," he added.
