Shubhaavi, popular as Meera from Kyunki, says she owes her acting skills in large measure to Ronit Roy and Ram Kapoor.
Ronit, she said, helped her out in a particularly delicate scene where she had to propose marriage to his character (Mihir). "I had a throat infection that day and found it difficult to speak,"
Shubhaavi said, "and the dialogue had to be delivered in a high-pitched voice." The sequence was from when she was trying to force him to marry her, she said.
"I was telling Mihir it was pointless to think of Tulsi because she was dead, and that as I had been taking care of the Viranis for 20 years he should marry me. I had to say this dialogue in a high voice but my infection was hurting me," Shubhaavi said, "He supported me and told me we'd do the shot the next day."
She said Ronit put her at ease from the very start: "When I entered Kyunki, Ronitda had already attained fame through his roles as Mr Bajaj in Kasauti and Mihir. On my first day, when I needed many retakes for the shot, he boosted me by adding that I should be calm and patient. Frankly speaking Ronitda is a gem of a person."
"I'm very happy that I got to work with him again in Kasamh se." She now plays Pallavi in Kasamh Se and had high praise for her costar, the hunky Ram Kapoor. "I'm playing a cameo but I do have some scenes with Ram. When I was nervous with him, he said to me: 'I'm not going to eat you, be calm and relax'."
Asked about rumours that she was returning to Kyunki, she said: "What are you saying! I'd love to play Meera."
